Rub on with an even light cover, leave for 4 hours for the wood to drink it in, then dust over with a cloth to remove any excess. No strong smell, no real work to do, quite forgiving if you miss a bit and need to go back. Once I loaded up a sponge I just kept this in an empty jar and used it for the next door.
