The Robot has a 5/8" clearance that allows it to traverse most thresholds, rugs and carpets up to that height. If the Rug were deeper than 5/8" the Robot may not be able to clean it as effectively as a more shallow pile rug. **Q: I have a shag rug that has long hairs, about 2 inches. Can I program the Roomba to just skip those rugs?** A: The Roomba 981 would not be able to be programmed to avoid specific areas. You would, however, be able to use a Dual Mode Virtual Wall. This accessory would emit Infrared beams that would keep the Roomba away from specific areas. **Q: I have another roomba and was wanting another to work on the lower level of my home. can i have two that will work on one app and with all my alexas?** A: Up to 10 robots may be connected to your iRobot Home App. Please follow the connectivity recommendations made by Amazon in regards to your Alexa Device. **Q: There is an area after 3 sweeps where it hasn't 'figured out' exists. Does it have distance req f/ home port thats keeping it from 'finding it'?** A: If there is a consistent area in your home that the Roomba is not cleaning.
