They stay cool. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good upgrade for A4988 *by P***L on 21 July 2025* Got these to replace 4988 drivers so I could drive 24 volt motors. They are a direct plug in replacement on the Arduino cnc shield with two caveats. First there are two pins sticking down between the two rows which are not necessary. I cut them flush. Second, be very careful to identify orientation. They are different than the 4988. Produce absolutely silent motor drive.
