Review: I love this sleeping bag. (Updating for over 10 years of performance!) - Updated review in May of 2021 after owning for over 10 years! (Purchased March 2011) I stand behind my original review, and can even expand it further. I've had this bag out solo, doubled up with the wife, and in temps all the way down to -16F on an unexpected, freak event of a night. This bag has paid for itself so many times over I've lost count. It's still going to be too much when the lows are probably 45F or better, but hey, you can just unzip the top from the bottom and use one side as a blanket instead! I also recently picked up the Teton Sports Cascade double sleeping bag, and didn't even have to think twice. Have used that one this spring and plan on using for summer over dragging bed sheets and a well used blanket around. May have to zip the top off and use as just a blanket, but we'll see. Point being that be cause of the Mammoth bag, and a couple other Teton Sports products, I didn't hesitate to buy another one of their products sight unseen. Didn't feel I needed to based on experience with their products, their outstanding customer care, and their warranty to back it all up. Great gear that doesn't have to break the bank for some big directional name being put on it. Looking forward to the next 10 years with this bag, and the other gear I have from Teton Sports! -------------------------------------- Original review below: -------------------------------------- Spacious, yet still warm for one. With two, it's even better. When it comes to camping, one thing you can't skimp on is your sleeping bag. It needs to be comfortable so you can get some good sleep. It also needs to be the right specs for the weather you'll be in. I spent several nights in this bag recently, with half at or just below the freezing mark while the others were a little warmer. I think the warmest night was mid 40's, and to be honest, it got a tad warm. That wasn't a big deal though, and to be expected with a 0-degree rated bag. I will say I was by myself on this excursion, and slightly concerned beforehand that with it being a double bag it may not be warm enough. On the cold nights, I was very warm. Not one problem at all with it being so big. This bag fit on top of my queen mattress just right, and was never an issue. I crawled in, and within a few short minutes it was warmed up like a champ. I had a nice blanket between the bag and the air mattress, which helped insulate the bag from the air of the mattress. This bag would have been good down to lower temperatures easily. I would estimate 15 degrees, maybe 10, based on the warmth provided in the upper 20's. When the temperature at night was in the mid 40's, it got a hair warm. That's OK, I like it that way, but this would be too much bag for much more. For light winter, spring or fall (when the temps are chilly at night), this bag is awesome. For summer, you will roast. The quality is very, very good. To be honest, this bag exceeded my expectations. If only they made a similarly sized bag that was a little lighter weight for summer, I'd be a happy camper. If you take care of this bag, it will certainly last you a long time. Store it right, clean it right, and you will be very satisfied.
Review: High quality, toasty, perfect car camping sleeping bag!! - We had a camping trip in the Rocky Mountain National Park coming up in the fall, temperatures were supposed to be in the low 30s, or even upper 20s. This was one the first bags we saw when looking around, and we just couldn't stop thinking about it! It looked so roomy, so comfy, so warm, and the idea of a double sleeping bag was very appealing, specially in cold weather. So we went for it! Well, since I'm writing this review, you can assume we not only survived, but it was a great choice! Here are our pros and cons from our experience in Colorado: PROS: 1. High quality: right when you take it out of the box you know it's a good product. The inside feels like flannel. Zippers and seams look strong! 2. Roomy: this thing is huge, I'm 6 feet tall, and both my wife and I could fit inside with plenty of room for another small person. 3. Comfy: I'm just going to say that there is a very thin line between sleeping in your bed and inside this sleeping bag, very very fluffy. The inside is similar to flannel, so it's not too cold when you get in. 4. Warm: I gotta say, before seeing this bag, my wife was skeptical we wouldn't be cold at night, but our nights were perfect, we couldn't wait to get to bed. We both slept with very light clothes and bare foot. Temperatures were in the low 30s every night. 5. Details: some details are worth mentioning... there are zippers all around, so if someone is too warm at night, you can open the sides to increase ventilation. There is a mummy hoodie that helps close down if you're still not warm enough. There are some velcros to prevent you touching the zippers or opening them accidentally. CONS: There are no cons!!! I would say there is actually one side effect to so many pros... 1. Size: well, as you'd expect, it's very bulky and heavy! But hey, how would it not be, right? Some reviews talk about being difficult to put it back in the stuffing bag, but we did not have a problem at all! Fold in the middle, stuff it all the way to the end, and then stuff stuff stuff the rest! It really (to our surprise) wasn't as bad as we thought. Bottom line is, amazing bag!! You won't be disappointed. Just don't expect to go hiking a 10 mile trail with it! :)

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does it unzip from both side?**
A: I had to unpack it to find out. my Teton actually has three zippers. the first unzips the right side, the second unzips the left side and the third unzips the bottom. the two halves of the bag can be completely separated; but you cannot make two separate bags.

**Q: Can this sleeping bag be machine washed?**
A: My sons fell apart the first time we washed it in extra large washer on cold. Bummer. He saved for 6 months for the bag.

**Q: How do you store your bag? There is no earthly way I can get it back in the stuff sack it came in. I could barely get it out of the stuff sack. Help!**
A: I found out the hard way how to get it in the storage bag. First I tried with the sleeping bag zipped together, what a pain, then I unzipped the sleeping bag and put one half in at a time and was able to do it with no help. Just work your way around and push down as far as you can. It will fit.

**Q: how well does this bag compress? can someone give specific dimensions. I want to know how much luggage space it takes.**
A: About 3.5' tall and 16" in diameter. The sleeping bag is difficult to compress back into the carry case. What I did was go to Walmart to get some straps to help compress the bag, this seemed to aide the problem. However, you will find that even after that it can still be difficult to get the sleeping bag in the case. Lastly, if you are looking to buy this sleeping bag you can't go wrong; overall this is a really great sleeping bag. Its comfortable, has some head support, and the coolest feature is the added shoulder flap to keep warm during cold camping nights. You won't regret buying it.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This bag is great! It is well-constructed, warm, soft, & large enough for two oversized campers or three skinny ones.
*by W***Y on November 2, 2013*

We bought the Teton Queen Sized 0 deg Sleeping Bag a few weeks ago and finally used it last weekend. All the other reviews are correct, this bag is completely warm even on a 38 degree night, if anything I was too hot in the bag. The zippers on either side let me unzip my side while my wife kept hers zipped. We will be camping in 3 weeks up in the North Carolina mountains and it is likely to go below freezing and I am confident we will be completely warm, at least until we have to get out of it to get dressed. I don't think the "flannel" lining is cotton flannel, it feels more like a synthetic flannel-like substance, which I think is actually better. Cotton flannel will not last as long as the synthetic, and would stay damp longer if you sweat. But the synthetic lining is as soft as real flannel. My wife and are pretty skinny so there was room enough for a third, though we could not find any takers :). The one thing that seems up for debate is getting it back into the bag when done. Let's be clear, it is a stuff sack, which means you are supposed to stuff it back into the bag, not try to roll it. We timed it and together it took us less than two minutes to stuff it back in, and took me about 3 minutes doing it by myself. Just keep stuffing and packing and stuffing and it will all fit. It is heavy, definitely not something you will be carrying around backpacking, it is meant for tent camping where your car is within a few hundred feet of the campsite. My only negative is that the "mummy hood" that closes with a draw string does not really work the same way that it works on a mummy bag designed for one person, which is to tighten the string until just your face is showing on those really cold days. There is no way to draw the string in on the Teton so that just both your faces are showing, unless you are cheek to cheek, which is not a real practical way to sleep when next to someone, no matter how much you love them. It would be better if they had two mummy hoods on this, each with its own drawstring so each person could tighten their string to enclose just their own face. Overall this bag is great, it is completely comfortable, warm, soft, & large enough for two oversized campers or three skinny ones. Downside is that it is too heavy for backpacking, but for those trips you each bring your own mummy bag instead. Be careful when ordering, there are two versions of this bag, a 0 deg bag and a 30 deg bag, make sure you get the right one. UPDATE: We camped in the NC mountains in mid November and the last night it was so cold, the gallon plastic bottle of water in the tent froze solid. We were absolutely warm in the bag despite what we learned the next days was a 12 deg night. So with 2 people in it, I can't imagine this sleeping bag being cold at any temperature. Getting out of it in 12 deg weather in the morning was a bit of a shock, but inside the bag was fine.
