Obviously this size board will not fit in a dishwasher, since I will only be using this in the summer months, soapy water and the garden hose along with sanitizing tabs should be proficient in keeping it clean. Using sharp knives and not using a ton of force to cut up meat, veggies or fruit should reduce scratching but expect some. I've worked in kichens most of my life and worked with these types of boards that were scratch resistant. So expect some. I'm putting mine on an outside cart that I found, a NexGrill cart with a stainless steel top so I will either place a damp towel under the board or a slip resistant mat. This will greatly increase the board from sliding around. This is a great looking board and I can't wait to start using it. Oh and it says it's heavy but I really dont think so. Dimensions are spot on correct.
