Review: Happy with the purchase! - I've been using this SanDisk 1TB flash drive for a few weeks now, and I'm really impressed with it for a few reasons: 1. I had been using portable hard drives my whole life, and the downside is that they need a separate power source to function. This is my first time buying a 1TB flash drive with storage capacity similar to a hard drive, but it doesn't require a power outlet! It just works by plugging it into my iPhone! 2. My iPhone video settings record high quality videos which takes up a lot of memory space. I like that it’s so convenient to backup all my iPhone 15 photos and videos directly into this flash drive (without needing a Mac or PC! Btw, both my Mac and Pc is able to read the drive). 3. It’s also easy to share the files directly with family or friends that want a copy of the photos or videos. I don’t need to worry whether they’re on Android/iOS. Also they’ll get an original copy, and not a “reduced sized” copy. 4. I like the build of the flash drive. It’s made from metal and the built seems really good. Some downsides/workaround I found: 1. Several users have mentioned that the flash drive can get warm during large file transfers. I've noticed this as well, but only when my phone battery is low (below 60%). The transfer speed also seems to slow down when the battery is low. To avoid this, I keep my phone battery at least 80% charged before transferring large files, which significantly helps to reduce the flash drive's heat. 2. On the design side, it only has a cover for one side of the USB connector, not the other. Ideally, it would have two rotating covers for both sides to provide better protection and keep the connections clean. Knowing all the pros and cons, I still think it's a great buy overall! It's super convenient, which outweighs the minor drawbacks for me (and worth the price)! Review: A True Thumb Drive - This 3.1 USB Flash Drive Is Small, Smaller the Size Of a Pair Of Fingernail Clippers. But, Don't Let the Size Fool You. It Will Hold Every Bit of 1 Tb. And The End Flips Over Give You Both a USB Type-A Connector and a USB Type-C Connector, (Which Will Fit The Modern Androids and Apple Products). So That I Don't Have To UpLoad To My DeskTop Computer Then DownLoad To My Tablet. I Can Connect Straight To The Tablet. I DownLoaded Lots Of Video Files All Over 1 Gb Each and That's a Little Dicey. It Depends On the Memory in Your Computer DeskTop, But I Would Recommend Just DownLoading a Few Files At a Time or a Few Folders At A Time. Do It Quickly One After Another and Windows 10 Will Put These Files To Be Copied In The Copying Que, Then Select the Two Vertical Bars In The Copying Display To Pause Each Copy and Stack Them Up And When One Folder Has Been Copied Then Click On The Arrow For The Next Set In The Que. You Normally Only Have To Do This Once Then Just Update Any File or Folders One At A Time. If You Put Too Much Strain On the BandWidth, It Might Come Back and Tell You Errors Were Found and Ask You To Scan & Repair The Flash Drive, (an Easy Thing To Do). But, Chances Are That If You Just Let It Copy Files While You Are Not Using The Computer It Will DownLoad about 35mb to 65mb Per Second and Be Done, Just A Little At A Time. So, Far, I Highly Recommend This Flash Drive and It's Not Too Bulky to Carry in my Pants Pocket. I Have Mot Experience Any Heat Problem as Others Mentioned. It Get A Little Warm, but No Warmer than My Other SanDisk Flash Drives. I Like The Brand, (Always Quality Products), and I Would Say That This A Genuine SanDisk Product. ## Features - The all-metal, 2-in-1 flash drive with a reversible USB Type-C and a traditional Type-A connector. - Seamlessly move content between your USB Type-C smartphone, tablets and Macs and USB Type-A computers.(2) - Free up space on your USB Type-C smartphone so you can take more photos.(2) - Automatically back up photos using the SanDisk Memory Zone app.(3) ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B0842NYBHN | | Additional Features | Reversible;Swivel | | Best Sellers Rank | #52 in USB Flash Drives | | Brand | SANDISK | | Built-In Media | Contents: 1 item | | Color | Silver | | Compatible Devices | Mobile, Tablet | | Compatible Phone Models | Tablet | | Connectivity Technology | USB | | Customer Reviews | 4.4 out of 5 stars 24,338 Reviews | | EU Spare Part Availability Duration | 1 years | | Flash Memory Type | USB | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00619659179182 | | Hardware Connectivity Technology | USB Type C | | Hardware Interface | USB 3.0 | | Item Dimensions D x W x H | 5.91"D x 4.33"W x 3.94"H | | Item Highlight | USB Flash Drive, Reversible Connectors for USB-C Smartphones, Tablets, & Mac, Automatic Backup, USB 3.2 Gen 1, Metal, Silver | | Item Type Name | Flash Drive | | Item Weight | 18 g | | Manufacturer | Sandisk Technologies, Inc. | | Memory Storage Capacity | 512 GB | | Mfr Part Number | SDDDC4-512G-G46 | | Model Name | Ultra Dual Drive Luxe | | Model Number | SDDDC4-512G-G46 | | Number of Packs | 1 | | Read Speed | 150 megabytes_per_second | | Special Feature | Reversible;Swivel | | UPC | 619659179182 | | Unit Count | 1 Count | | Warranty Description | 5-year limited manufacturer warranty | | Write Speed | 150 | ## Product Details - **Brand:** Sandisk - **Hardware Interface:** USB 3.0 - **Memory Storage Capacity:** 512 GB - **Special Feature:** Reversible;Swivel - **Write Speed:** 150 ## Images ![SANDISK 512GB Ultra Dual Drive Luxe, USB-C+USB-A, Up to 150MB/s Read Speeds - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/711UkF3QAzL.jpg) ![SANDISK 512GB Ultra Dual Drive Luxe, USB-C+USB-A, Up to 150MB/s Read Speeds - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61jT2Eu-8XL.jpg) ![SANDISK 512GB Ultra Dual Drive Luxe, USB-C+USB-A, Up to 150MB/s Read Speeds - Image 3](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/717yncBIZuL.jpg) ![SANDISK 512GB Ultra Dual Drive Luxe, USB-C+USB-A, Up to 150MB/s Read Speeds - Image 4](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/5181WdyX8GL.jpg) ![SANDISK 512GB Ultra Dual Drive Luxe, USB-C+USB-A, Up to 150MB/s Read Speeds - Image 5](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71ThdbgmY7L.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Color, Size, Style** options. ## Questions & Answers **Q: How to set up a password for this flash drive? Thank you!** A: This drive does not come with hardware based encryption (built into the drive itself). But you can look up a software based encryption option that works for you (encrypted folders/volume or third party software). Just look up "How do I encrypt my USB drive for _____" specifying your preferred Operating System(s). Now, SanDisk may have included a software based solution option with the drive, but I don't recall. Either way, any Drive can be encrypted and there are lots of options. Google would be the best place to find one that works for you. **Q: has anyone who has had heat problems had any reliability issues with this drive? and, is the marketed 150mb read speed accurate?** A: So far it works great and read speed is consistent (150MB/s). 1 min 20s for 10GB. Write speed drops considerably as it gets hot after ~30 seconds from 60MB/s to 10..20MB/s. It takes about 10 min to write 10GB. **Q: Does this work with iPad Pro?** A: Check your iPad pro's connector. If you have one of the newer iPad Pro's with a USB-C port (this would be starting with the 2018 iPad Pro 12.9"), it WILL indeed work. If you have an older iPad or an iPad that uses a lightning connector, it will not work. I hope this helps! -- Ray **Q: I want to copy files from my galaxy 9 phone to a flash drive. How can i** A: Works fine. Just plug usb c into phone and use Samsung file manager to copy fines from phone to drive or vice versa. Be sure you eject before removing. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Happy with the purchase! *by S***P on June 1, 2024* I've been using this SanDisk 1TB flash drive for a few weeks now, and I'm really impressed with it for a few reasons: 1. Gobs of storage, which I need. When loading it up the first time, it got hot. I've been taught that 40 degrees C is where your reflexes jerk your finger back. This was not quite but almost that hot. I've also been taught that silicon integrated circuits can handle up to 125 C, which is enough to make blisters and boil water. So, I'm pretty sure this tiny but mighty flash drive is well within its operating limits. Still, it spooked me a little. I held it between two fingers to cool it down, and it did - pretty quickly. Then, when I let go, it got hot again, but never so hot that it burned me. It has a hole for a lanyard. Being so much smaller than my G-drive or my 1TB external drive, my only worry now is losing it. I'm about to tie something bulking onto the first one, and then buy a second one. Just prior to ordering this one, I had purchased another one that was slightly cheaper. It faulted twice in a row, then again after I reformatted, so I know not to buy the lowest cost version available. This SanDisk, a company I have grown to trust over many years, passes muster with me. ## Frequently Bought Together - SanDisk 512GB Ultra Dual Drive Luxe USB Type-C - SDDDC4-512G-G46, Black - SanDisk 256GB Ultra Dual Drive USB Type-C - USB-C, USB 3.1 - SDDDC2-256G-G46,Black - SanDisk 512GB Ultra Dual Drive Go USB Type-C Flash Drive - SDDDC3-512G-G46, Black --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.kg/products/205180812-sandisk-512gb-ultra-dual-drive-luxe-usb-c-usb-up](https://www.desertcart.kg/products/205180812-sandisk-512gb-ultra-dual-drive-luxe-usb-c-usb-up) --- *Product available on Desertcart Kyrgyzstan* *Store origin: KG* *Last updated: 2026-10-12*
