It is designed to be wider than the door frame to protect from the elements. You'll have to use your ingenuity to figure where the screws will go in to a secure surface. Your door outer frame should be solid enough so you can mount it on that. **Q: Does this include everything you need to install it?** A: It comes w/what you need. Would have been helpful if it had included an installation template to drill the holes in the wall. Most of the parts are plastic, but once assembled it seems to be relatively sturdy.
