There are some decent storylines throughout the game, but the game itself doesn't offer much. You can solo almost everywhere and win with little challenge; the crafting skills don't take long to master and provide little benefit; the trading system is tedious to use; items (especially in HOT) are too high in quantity and too little in value; and NPCs all sell mostly the same things (so why are there so dang many of them?)
