The paraben alternative that they use is "phenoxyethanol" which is used as a preservative to fight of bacteria that would cause the product to go bad. The other ingredient that's not a plant extract is "cetyl alcohol" which is an alcohol derived from fats like coconut oil or palm oil to help the oils and waters in the conditioner mix when they normally would separate. It was hard to find one that doesn't have mango, doesn't smell like coconut or fruit, is reasonably priced, and is light weight enough for fine loose curls but can cater to tighter, thicker hair types. This product did just that and her hair LOVES it! It's moisturizing, has a smooth creamy texture, has an extremely light almost not existent scent, and is affordable.
