Review: Great for home or office use, buy the aluminum version for portable uses - With laptops, tablets, and portable PCs continuing to shrink every year, I have become reliant on USB hubs and network adapters to replace disappearing native ports on my devices. I have two USB hubs, two USB network adapters, and this device which is a hybrid between the two. I really like the three USB 3.0 ports and the Gigabit Ethernet are all available in this small package. The quality of the function are up to the standards of what I have come to expect from Anker, and I have had no problems once I realized I needed to install a driver. Actually, that is probably the one downside to this device, is that I needed to find and install a driver which is becoming almost a thing of the past as most devices seem to plug and play without user intervention these days. This next criticism is just a person preference of mine. If I were to purchase this device again, I would probably go with this aluminum one: Anker Unibody Aluminum 3-Port USB 3.0 and Gigabit Ethernet Hub with 1.3ft / 40cm USB 3.0 Cable [Ethernet Port RTL8153 Chipset + USB Ports VL812 Chipset ]. The reason is because I use this ( Anker Unibody Aluminum USB 3.0 to RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter Supporting 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet [RTL8153 Chipset ]) non-usb hub ethernet adapter at work and I like the solid feel of the aluminum a lot. I also like that the aluminum ones don't have a detachable USB cable, this combines with the solid feel of the device and gives the impression that it would be very difficult to break. The one I am reviewing here feels very light-weight, and you could replace the USB cable if it broke or you wanted a different length, so your preference may differ from mine. If I could make my own product, I would combine the two aluminum ones I linked above into a device with an Ethernet port and one single usb port in an aluminum body that is as small as possible. I understand this is unlikely as the existing chipsets come in multiples of four busses, and companies like to add those free/cheap extra usb ports and count them as features, but I only use the one USB port 99% of the time, and I would give up the two extras for a smaller package. --------------------- Pros: *Fast speeds *Works great *Light Weight *Removable/replaceable USB cable *Price Cons: *I like the feel of the aluminum body ones better *Need to install a driver Bottom Line: If this fits your needs it will work great. If you plan on this being portable with you and your device, I would buy the Anker Unibody Aluminum 3-Port USB 3.0 and Gigabit Ethernet Hub with 1.3ft / 40cm USB 3.0 Cable [Ethernet Port RTL8153 Chipset + USB Ports VL812 Chipset ]
Review: Funny Story - This USB 3.0 HUB totally blew away my expectations. I'd never heard of Anker but decided to purchase due to all of the positive reviews. I'm totally glad I did!! I originally purchased this for use with my Dell Chromebook 13 to give it additional USB ports and gigabit ethernet. It was literally plug and play - working as soon as I plugged it in. So here's the funny story... I'm an IT professional and we had a pretty serious client service outage. We had determined one of their network switches had died in the night. After bringing out a replacement there were still several machines offline. It didn't make sense as the devices were plugged in to the new switch. After doing further troubleshooting I started to wonder if it was the network cards were the problem. I remembered I had this Anker Hub in my bag but I didn't have network access to download drivers (these were Windows machines) but I figured "What the heck I'll give it a try anyway." Amazingly once I plugged this in a new "USB Drive" showed up on the machine with the drivers on it! The hub includes its own windows drivers in a small USB partition! I installed the included drivers and the machine came right online! It turns out the building had been hit by lightning the night before and fried not only the switch, but several of the network cards plugged into it. This thing saved me at least an hour of troubleshooting and payed for itself in that moment. Needless to say I think this is a great product. It's very a well made and high performing device and I'll definitely be buying more Anker products in the future!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works Great Now That I'm Using A Logitech Extender Cable To Keep Wireless Receiver At A Distance
*by R***R on October 14, 2017*

This product causes some kind of interference with my Logitech wireless transmitter needed for my wireless Logitech K350 keyboard. I have a Surface Book laptop running Windows 10 64bit with 2 usb ports on one side. One of the ports has a Logitech wireless transmitter to support my Logitech mouse (Model M705) and Logitech keyboard (Model K350). I plugged the Anker 3-Port device into the other usb port on my Surface Book. The network connection works and my wireless mouse work but the keyboard will not operate properly. When I type on it the keystrokes won't appear for about 20 or 30 seconds. I replaced the batteries on the keyboard and also rebooted the laptop but the problem persists. I also tried relocating the wireless transmitter to one of the free usb ports on the Anker but the problem won't go away. I later tried to use another Logitech wireless keyboard (Model K360) which did work. So for some reason it won't work with the K350 Logitech wireless keyboard. I would prefer to use the K350 because it is a larger keyboard than the K360. I'd like to get another large full size keyboard to work with the Anker but I don't know which ones work with my laptop and operating system. Updated news 10/17/2017: ===================== The problem has been solved by using a Logitech Receiver Extender Cable which just arrived today from Amazon. I just plugged the extender cable into the available usb port and stretched it away from the Anker 3-Port then plugged the Logitech Wireless Receiver into the extender cable and all works now.
