## Description

Miracle Sealants 511 Impregnator is a penetrating sealer designed for the protection of all medium to dense porous surfaces. Review: Easy to use, works well so far (1 month) - My project: Clean and seal a basement floor after the cats had decided the didn't want to use their litter pan. How much did I need? Approx two quarts for two coats over approx 700 square feet. In other words, 700 sq. ft. per quart. Does it work? Yes, so far. Water beads up beautifully on both the tile and grout that have been treated. It's only been a month so far. How easy was it? Application was easy, but not the cleaning. This is a penetrating sealer, so any stain you leave on the tile or grout will be permanently sealed in. I cleaned the floor by: 1. Spot-cleaning the worst spots (cat pee, yuck) 2. Scrubbing the entire floor by hand with a stiff brush 3. Used a copper wire brush to scrub off the top layer of the dirtiest grout 4. Wiped off excess soap 5. Mopped twice to ensure no soap residue that might interfere with adherence of the sealant Overkill? Maybe, but I wanted to do this right the first time. For 700 sq. ft., It probably took me 20-ish hours to clean, and only 5-10 to apply two coats. Cleaning was the vast majority of the work. The application process: Easy, but a bit tedious I have 12x12 tiles with approx. 1/4 inch grout. That's about 1,500 linear feet of grout (my best guess). Used a small children's paintbrush and carefully painted over all the grout. After each application, waited 5-8 minutes before wiping off. My tiles are completely matte limestone, and so easily soaked in any excess sealant left on the surface. I just had to buff the excess into the face of the tile, and it would soak in nicely. If I had glass or other glossy tiles, I might have had to wipe off 100% of the excess, which would be much more difficult. The Result: Dry to the touch in hours, started walking on it in a few days. Water beads up fantastically and wiping up is easy. The tiles have a *slightly* but barely noticeable increase in the glossy finish after having dried for a few days. The cats haven't peed on it yet, so I don't know how well it will truly work. Recommendations: 1. Ignore the square footage guidelines. What matters is how much *grout* you have, not how much *floor* you have. 2-inch tiles with 1/4 inch grout will need a massive amount of sealant. I had 12-inch tiles so didn't need as much. Make your best estimate and then test before buying what you think might be the right amount. 2. Test a small section first to see how much you need. My tiles and grout were very "thirsty" and soaked it all up easily. I put two coats everywhere, and a third coat on the most heavily trafficked section. Test your tiles first. 3. Use disposable equipment. Latex exam gloves, a plastic cup, cut-up T-shirts and a child's paintbrush were all the supplies I needed. This stuff needs mineral spirits to clean up, which is a major hassle. Disposable = no cleanup. 4. Knee pads! You will be kneeling on a stone floor for hours. Good luck.
Review: It works even on porous surfaces - This granite is outdoors, exposed to the elements. It used to absorb water like a paper towel. After one coat of this sealant, water beads up. Easy peasy!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I have new granite counters, which have a very shiny surface. Will applying this sealer dull the shine? I don't want a matte finish.**
A: Miracle sealants 511 should not dull your granite finish. I apply it every six months to both granite, ceramic, and sanded grout surfaces and find that it brightens the appearance and brings out the shine and depth of the grain of the stone. Just remember to follow the manufacturer's instructions and be sure to clean the granite before application.

**Q: Can it be used on White Carrara marble?**
A: Yes, 1 Quart will cover 750-1000sq. ft of Polish White Carrara Marble

**Q: How many square feet will this quart cover?**
A: The quart will cover approximately 125 - 1000 square feet depending upon type of surface to which it is being applied.

**Q: Is this oil based product or water based?**
A: I’ve searched for years for the sealant used in ancient floors , it was this one or one like it, oil based penetration into the stone reflecting more than that awful acrylic stuff manufacturers have b even pushing for years..
This product contains petroleum based oil! It works, my slate looks like water, no peeling just gradually fades over a year or more

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It works even on porous surfaces

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Seals, but does tend to grey if applied thicker and should come with serious health warning
*by A***S on July 23, 2019*

First off: Safety. The label should start out with skull and bones and a mandate to use this product only while wearing respiratory protection in a well ventilated space. This stuff is seriously toxic and dangerous! Right now it is more of second column by the way thing ... no, it should be step 1. wear a quality half mask respirator with filter cartridges After mishaps with other poor sealer products from the big box stores. Reviewing those before buying out of convenience. Doing some searching here and on other sites, this seemed very well reviewed. So, settled on Miracle Sealant to seal the grout for a 15x45 tiled enclosed patio area. Even with two sliding doors open, in this large open space, within minutes of doing a small test area ... it started to effect my body! Had to stop, get fresh air, etc then get the face mask respirator, setup two fans for forced cross ventilation, ... and still the stuff lingered for days after the application was finished. So, I cannot imagine doing an enclosed space without windows, without ventilation, ... at least not safely. Beyond that. I used one of those rolling stone bottles for application in the grout between the porcelain tiles. That worked fairly well, I worked in small maybe 4x8 sections of applying and then proceeded to within a number of minutes to wipe up the excess. It gets a wet look and soaks in a good amount. Wipe up what does not soak in. I do notice some areas, that our charcoal black grout did get a grey-ish sheen on it. Even though I was diligent in trying to wipe up excess within the stated few minutes. So, yes, there can be discoloration. It does seal the grout and even will leave a film on the porcelain tile, causing water to bead up like on a clean and freshly waxed car. I can't attest to longevity or durability of the sealer, but right now I'd certainly buy the product again for future needs.
