Because I use play lists on my Ipod, I was only able to control volume from my steering wheel. Accessing the my Ipod is convenient in the lower area even with 6 inch cord. Because I place it there I don't worry about brightness of display on night driving ( I know I could adjust Ipod to have no display). I considered Velcro to attach to dash, but then figured I could just hit pause or next selection easily with one finger. I orientate the Ipod plug side out so the pause/play are closest to cabin.Because I have no knowledge of other Kia's I won't be able to comment.As for the Ipod who needs sirrus, with the large assortment of music I own. Converted 300 music CD's years ago.Didn't give it 5 stars because of only controlling the volume. No art work appears in media area or song title either.I think I can also use on my Iphone 4 to access Iheart radio should I choose this.I bought a cable (small fits Ipad mini - 30 pin) for future thinking ahead of Apple. This purchase of cable is separate but for those who use none 30 pin interfaces you might consider that helpful.Just my opinionUpdate: as stated earlier I have. A Kia Sorento 2014SX. After trying connecting my iPod just with a USB cable ( no aux input)I found to my surprise I got album art , Full control with UVO screen able to see all my playlist and select which one I wanted to hear. Now the downside , my navigator would not work properly no clock no poi's. I thought I had wrecked my UVO , after unplugging USB the turning car off then on with out USB all was back to normal. I will now use this purchase exclusively.My iPod is a classic 160GB, not sure if that had caused the result I saw.My iPod was off when plugging in but would turn on when USB inserted. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Exactly what I needed for 2012 Kia Optima!! *by A***E on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on August 2, 2015* I recently purchased a Kia Optima from a used car dealership, & the very next morning, I plugged in my iPhone with my usual USB cable to play our favorite morning jams, but instead of gettin' in our usual "boogie on the way to school" session in our "brand new" car, (well, new to us)....we were all terribly disappointed when nothing happened!! Not only did our music not play...it wouldn't even charge my phone.When I got home, I tried using an auxiliary cord, but it was the same thing...nothing. I immediately called the dealership to ask if maybe there was some trick I was unaware of, & they basically just blamed it on me!! They said everything worked fine before I drove it off the lot, so if something wasn't working, I had to have broken it....(less than 12 hours of ownership). Ugh!!Since I KNEW that wasn't the case, I turned to Google & did some VERY frustrated research. Thank Gawd, I found the answer almost right away....(the salesman would have too if he would've bothered)....but that's a whole 'nother review!! HahaSo, what I found out, is that certain Kia & Hyundai models require this adorable little double cable to play music using a cell phone or mp3 player. I'm not sure which of the Kia & Hyundai models require it...but I know for sure it's definitely required for the 2012 Kia Optima.In my search to purchase one, I found them for sale at both the Kia & Hyundai dealerships here in town for around $25-$30....or I could purchase the same exact thing, without leaving my house, here on Amazon for less than $7...with my free Prime shipping. I obviously choose the latter option.I received it in the usual 2 days, & so far I'm very pleased. It works perfectly!Needless to say, we're back to our usual morning boogie sessions on the way to school. 😁 ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Doesn't work with an adapter for iPhone 6 *by C***3 on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on March 23, 2015* I bought this for use with my 2013 Kia Soul. I have an iPhone 6, so I bought an adapter to be able to use this. I got this cord first, so I tried it with my moms iPod nano, from around 2008. It worked perfectly, just the way I wanted. However, after receiving the adapter, I tried it with my iPhone 6. It did not work. It can sense something is plugged in and charges my phone, but I can't play music. I don't think it's the cords fault, I think it's just the iphone 6. Just a heads up for anyone wanting to buy this for an iPhone 5 or 6. I would recommend just purchasing a usb and loading music on it, and using that to listen to music.
