The fire starter is a small, flat piece of metal about 1/2" by 1/4" that is part of the clasp and is invisible when the handle is fastened into its loop shape. The little piece of metal fits into a little slot in the other side of the clasp. I would never have noticed it or known what it was except for the fact that the description said it includes a fire starter and I deduced that must be what the little piece of metal is for. There were no comments or instructions with it. I like the handle very much. **Q: Will this fit a corkcicle** A: I have mine on a Swell bottle & I love it!
