It is firm, rolls like a charm, and is the perfect length to use it anywhere on your body. It is definitely more tough than some people may like, but it really gets the job done. Using on yourself is pretty exhausting the more you massage. If I could say about the build quality, its not industrial grade, but it is adequate enough for its intended purposes or massaging your quads, hamstrings, calf muscles, etc. Id recommend getting someone to massage you although sometimes I prefer finding the trigger points myself and massaging carefully. I did cause a bruise underneath my knee the first week of using the roller because I was applying too much pressure while rubbing with the roller. Ive seen reviews where people accidentally break the rollers using too much pressure, but I think for most people that would require too much effort and might be excessive anyway.Case/Point: I work in construction as a roofer and am constantly climbing ladders with heavy loads. I also spend a long stretches of time bending and working in a squatting position for many hours. As you can imagine my legs become tense and fatigued by the end of the day, let alone on a weekly basis. I am very happy with this roller specifically and its a major relief for leg stiffness.
