In addition, our durable connectors are protected with UV resistant materials and can withstand a 600 volt surge. Installation instructions: Strip #22 - 18 wires 1/2" and #16 - 12 wires 3/8". Align any frayed strands or conductors. Place stripped wires together with ends of insulation even. Twist connector onto wires pushing firmly until hand-tight. Do not over torque. Wipe sealant in and around conductors and connector opening while tightening. Do not reuse. **Important: Turn off power before installing or removing connector. Can I re-use it to connect a different set of wires later? Thanks.** A: As mentioned, some of the Dielectric grease is displace by the wires and pressed into the wires. If you are adding one more wire to the bunch, I see no reason why you can't reuse in this case as you are adding mass to the cavity. If you want to be anal, you could add more Dielectric grease to the nut and wires (after twisting them) prior to reuse of the wire nut; cost is about $0.50 per nut if you are considering material cost. But in a pinch, if you run out of nuts, you can add Dielectric grease to finish the job. **Q: Does the silicone inside harden over time to help keep the wires inside tight and contained? Thanks!** A: No the silicone in the wire caps are like Vaseline never gets solid. I have a jar of Vaseline that is around 50 or so years old and it's just like they we bought it. **Q: How many 12 or 16 gauge wires can these hold in one cap?
