I like having an idea of what the acceptance rates, student profile, etc. are for different programs and I like this book because you have access to the information without being creepy and emailing the PH.D students in your department of choice (which I have done).Couple of down sides though:One: This book doesn't have very much information about Master's programs. I'm not really sure whether it's because fewer universities are offering Master's degrees of Psychology in their department or whether the APA operates under the almost universal idea that every psychology grad school applicant wants a Ph.D. Some programs I'm interested in DO have Master's but yet there is no information about them in the book.Two: If you want a degree that is a little atypical, you might not find information specific to that degree. I'm interested in Consumer Psychology and this book has no information about it for the schools I looked at. I even looked at NYU- A school that most DEFINITELY had a Consumer Psychology program- and couldn't find any information.I may or may not keep this book. If I keep it, I'll use the information to get a snapshot of what my chances of acceptance are for certain programs I'm interested. The information included is very well rounded and informative- I just wish there was more for the people who haven't decided between the Master's and Ph.D. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ great guide *by A***. on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on April 23, 2007* Let's be realistic about what this book is meant to do. First, it will not tell you anything about how to get into grad school (for example, what classes to take, if research is important for your program, etc.). Second, it will not list what researchers are present in which schools. What this book will do is be a starting point in the search for the schools you want to apply. I used to book to form a list of schools for which I wanted to do more research on. I went through the book (the states in which I wouldn't mind living) and made a list of programs that I would be interested in. The book helped me realize right away that I had no chance of getting into certain programs because of my GRE scores or that a school requires the Subject Test. It was a great starting guide and it helped me get organized in my search for schools. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Kinda helpful, but not super helpful *by H***Y on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on August 15, 2015* This book is helpful because it offers all of the information needed about graduate programs in one place. While the information is all available on the individual program sites, this saves me from the tedious process of seeking it out.Still, there are three problems that I have with this book:1) It doesn't offer the most updated list of APA accredited programs. It indicates this information within the information for each school, but not in a concise list. This list is available online, but it would have been helpful to have it in the book.2) The admission statistics provided are from the 2014 cycle, not the 2015 application cycle. Most of the school website offer the most up to date admission statistics, which means I had to go to each site individual to find the most accurate information.3) This book is missing at least one program, maybe more. The APA website lists Catholic University of America as having an APA accredited Clinical Psychology program but I can't find it at all.
