Even though it focuses on our hero (Geronimo Stilton) learning karate in order to enter a world tournament, the way it presents the material is very accurate. As a long-time karate teacher myself, I was impressed with the way this 108 page book explained some of the basic principles and techniques of Karate-Do. I think using this book along with actual training under a Black Belt Karate Instructor a student will make good progress. This text explains the basic curriculum of karate, the importance of etiquette and even how to count to ten in Japanese. I would recommend this book to young children whether or not they are training in karate because the material is presented in a clear, entertaining and educational way. Since they discovered this series and the fact that on the kindle no password is required when a new book is purchased I’m racking up big charges on my credit card! But it’s well spent money! The 9-year old reads a book in two days and the 7-year old takes a bit longer. We are a multi-language family living in Italy so these books are great. We also have them on audible format for road trips. interestingly the original books are in Italian, we have some also in German but the English translations are the best! So many cat and mouse word plays, famous becomes famouse etc. All along the content is perfect, fun and “clean” and also touching on interesting subjects in history and geography and science. I loved it so much I've read it 100 times ( OK, maybe not 100 times, but you get the point). I definitely recommand it to other kids. One day, Geronimo Stilton is taken on a plane. When he lands, he finds out he is competing in the karate CHAMPIONSHIP!!! Will Geronimo be able to learn enough karate to survive, or will he get crushed to smithereens by other mice???????!!!!!!
