There is also a zero button along with an on/off button (if my 78 y.o. memory serves me correctly). If that doesn't do what you want, I'm out of guesses. The all-metal caliper is very well constructed and robust. The LCD readout is large and easy to read. I find that the accuracy is excellent and the rolling wheel has a very smooth feel. The resolution is definitive and stable, not jittery or indecisive. It comes with a nice plastic protective case and two button cell batteries. This is one of the better digital micrometers that I have used.
