I love how easy they break the steps down and teach how to belly dance. It is a great form of exercise that is fun. This Grandmother is happy to have it again on DVD to work out with. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Jump started my dancing *by E***E on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on June 29, 2003* May be the best you can get short of classes.I live in an area that up until a few months ago had no middle eastern dance instructors within less than a 1 hour radius. Since I didn't have a car, I couldn't take the weekly classes one hour away or more. I had only taken one, four hour workshop and had a few lessons from my friend and her mother previous to getting this set. Veena and Neena really helped me out. The warm-ups were relaxing and easy and once you got to learning the moves each one was shown briefly so you could see what you were going to learn, then broken down, then repeated at an increasing pace. I found that the voice over made it easier to concentrate than having them talk to you directly, as specialy because there were two of them and switching around would have been distracting. At the end of each tape you are taught a simple choreography which is first broken down, then rehearsed at it's normal pace with the music, and lastly Veena and Neena perform it in costume. I liked the music, which I don't think sounded like porn music or whatever that other person said. It sounded middle eastern, and the tempo of the music always matched what was going on and set a pace for you. Overall I thought the videos were not too short or too long and easy to learn with practice.A few months later I was pulled up to dance with dancer Suspira at the Marakesh. After her show she came to my table and complimented me, and even seemed amazed that most of what I learned was through videos! When I began classes a few months after that, my teacher was also impressed and I found that the moves being taught in class were easy to learn because I already knew the basics and was already loose and flexible, which is difficult for most beginners because they are not used to moving that way. This set is a good jump start, but if you want to go anywhere with bellydance make sure to take classes. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ For exercise its great! But this is really a bellydance video *by S***Z on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on February 19, 2010* I love Neena and Veena's videos and they are really great for exercise and really give the body and muscles a workout. I know of someone who actually lost 100 lbs. by changing her eating and using these as exercise and in the process became a really good belly dancer. I've seen some feedback about the moves having too much hand and veil work for it to feel like a true exercise video, etc. One thing you have to understand is that the Belly Twins are first and foremost, Belly Dancers and that is what they do and teach; they aren't exercise instructors. Most beginner Belly Dancers buy these videos to learn the basic moves and novice/inter. moves because they can't afford classes 3 or 4 times a week and if your in California, you can't afford Veena and Neena! lol! Don't get me wrong, these are great for getting the blood pumping, the sweat going and muscles toning to lose weight but if that is the only reason you are buying them, you may be somewhat disappointed if you expect instructed "Jane Fonda-ish" type videos. These videos are really primarily to TEACH Belly dance moves and sequences. Even the exercise videos are really just for making sure you don't injure yourself doing the moves of belly dancing. If you want to learn how to do authentic Belly Dance moves, impress your friends and yourself, or seduce your man or just plain have fun, these are perfect for that. If you want just a exercise video for losing weight, these are probably not the ones for you. Sorry. I love these videos because they are fun, I've always wanted to learn to Belly Dance AND I really need a fun way to exercise to lose weight. I plan on continuing in Belly Dance once I feel more confident, lose some serious weight, and can find a good instructor that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
