"I'm going to college for me"

“Kiss Me Like This” Book #1 of Bella Andre’s “The Morrison’s” (New Adult Contemporary Romance) SeriesWhat can I say I’m a huge fan of Bella Andre and her Sullivan series. When she started the Seattle Sullivan’s spin off I was totally stoked. It seemed like I just could not get enough of them. Then through her newsletter I learned she was doing a New Adult Contemporary Romance series “The Morrison’s” and I knew I just had to have them. If you’ve read The Sullivan’s and cried and laughed with them you will totally melt into “Kiss Me Like This” read. Trust me.Serena Britten is featured in her Sullivan’s series along with her mother Genevieve who happens to be her Momager (Mom/Manager). Serena is a World Famous model and had been asked to audition for one of Smith Sullivan’s movies, which of course she got the part. For nineteen years Genevieve has been living vicariously through her daughter. She was extremely over protective and never let her date and actually never let her do much of anything normal girls would do. You see Genevieve’s hatred of men and her attitude that all men were scum was literally drilled into Serena. I got the distinct impression that Genevieve was bitter with the birth of her daughter since it was the end of her career or at least the end of the start of it. This vibe is made pretty clear from the start. So when Serena drops the college bomb on her mother you can only imagine the conversation and hostility coming from her mother. You see Serena submitted an application to Stanford University with her major in English. Her love of books was her passion. She loved libraries, she loved reading and she was hoping to start a new career in a field she was passionate about. For once in her life she wanted to live a normal life, away from runways and the paparazzi.Once at Stanford Serena lived in the library studying. It was her safe haven. She walked around campus is sweats and a baggie sweat shirt, ball cap and sunglasses so she wouldn’t bring attention to herself. She wanted normal and to experience what all college freshman did. Little hard when you’re that famous. When Serena decided to start tasting “normal” by going to a Frat House party it turned out anything but normal. And here’s where the story really takes off.Sean Morrison lives in this Frat House. He is one of six brothers and sisters, and is the top college baseball player in the country, and is hot as hell and has no problems with the lady’s. You might say he’s a player. But for the past three months he’s not been interested in anything except numbing his feelings after a tragic loss that he can’t seem to get over. While drinking with his buddies Sean felt his chest tightening up and knew he just had to get out of there. As he went charging for the door for his escape he stopped short in his tracks when he spotted Serena. And this is where their love story begins, and what a love story it is. Both Serena and Sean have some pretty major issues to overcome. But when their worlds collide, and the attraction is electrifying and Sean falls head over heels for Serena, he’ll do anything to win her over. He’ll give her normal. As Serena and Sean get to know each other and fall deeper in love with each other you think oh this is perfect she’ll get her normal and she’ll get the love of her heart and soul. Then a sudden turn of events and the wicked Momager appears and drops the bomb. Smith Sullivan’s movie is back on track and Serena has a major decision to make. Does she follow her heart and her dreams or fulfill her obligation to Smith. Sean is just starting to come back to life since finding Serena and he can’t lose her. This part of the read is basically the moment of truth and a lot is revealed. Sean wishes his mother was around so she could give her words of wisdom. While out eating pizza Sean pulls a letter from his mother and hands it to Serena to read. Okay as I started reading Sean’s letter from his mother the words were so perfect and beautiful and almost like it was written for Serena also. I got half way through the letter and totally lost it. I had to stop reading because I couldn’t see the words. Finally after several deep breaths I made it through. Just make sure you have a box of tissues you’ll need it. This is where I stop. Does Serena choose Sean and her dream, or does she fulfil her obligation and promise Sean she’ll return. Does Serena get her forever with Sean or does she fall into her mother’s bullying trap and believe nothing will ever be normal for her? Will she ever get her mother’s love and approval or will she continue to be a business venture? You need to read the book to find out the answers. I can’t wait for her next release of this series. “Tempt me like This,” It’s Drew’s book, Sean’s rockstar brother. The Epilogue ended way too soon. Great job Bella 5* read for sure!!!

    Pretty dang good

Andre has always been able to write a hot sex scene but the rest was lackluster. But she's found that perfect combo of heart and heat that makes a good novel. Only thing that gave me pause is the ages she picked for Serena and Morrison. It's a whole Gossip Girls moment for me with underage drinking and kids being adults. I've got no problem with adult themes and drinking. It irritates me when it's kids not adults doing it. I get that she grew up way too fast but, Serena is still just 19. Morrison is just barely qualified as an adult at 21. He's way too mature for his age, not just his experience in bed, but his overall girl game. Guys my age have it but honey that's after at least one divorce where you navigate someone else's silent signals 24-7. Guys in their twenties are clueless most remain clueless for a long time. They treat girls like foreign creatures only to realize later on that women are human too. We have pride like them. We need reassuring and nurturing just like they do. On the surface women and men may seem different but underneath we both want to be seen and heard. It takes a while for us to strip away social conditioning and really see the opposite sex. As someone who has a 17 yr old, they aren't like the characters in this book. They might try to be but I've watched the subtle signals just get ignored because everyone this age "knows" things. Instead of, reading someone, as the guy does in a lot of the interactions, ideas of how the interaction is supposed to go guide actions. So, it just seems the characters are written way too old which if they weren't in college I could easily ignore. I get that a series has to start somewhere and seeing as how Grant and Drew are going to be hot men in their prime it stands to reason that the twins have to be young. But seeing as she's going to double back to Justin when he's in his prime maybe a failed romance between Serena and her beau could have worked. With Drew being the first story, then Grant, followed by Justin, and then his twin in a rekindled romance with Serena, ending with Olivia as a mature woman in her thirties and Maddie at post college age. Then these two could have met in college broken up because of the movie only to realize after growing up and establishing themselves that their romance was the real deal. They never moved on even after years. A part of them kept waiting for their first love.

I really loved this book and couldn’t stop reading. Loved how good Sean was with Serena. They can’t help falling in love. Loved that he was her first. She’s trying to live a normal life, and I had tears over how her Mom was with her. So glad they made up. This was a great story and it’s worth re reading. Loved their happy ever after and I highly recommend this book.
