They immediately regained color and a nice matte sheen and you'd never know that they were 5+ years old with probably thousands of miles of walking on them. I got the brown color polish to go with the brown boots. The jar it comes in is small but I only needed a few dabs to put a good coat on both boots, I simply wiped it on with a paper towel. It does not have a volatile or strong smell like some products seems more like a moisturizing cream.
