I have owned a lot of Martin Logan speakers in my 55 years as an audio file. Some of their large electrostatic at 10,000 a pair, American made speakers to the small bookshelves attached to subwoofers and they all sound marvelous. These motion 40i 's I've been discontinued and now being sold for 649.00 a piece which is absolutely an amazing price for an amazing speaker. They retailed for $1,300 a piece new and so I bought two for $1,300 and just set them up today with two SVS 200 subwoofers and started playing in through some old pristine completely rebuilt Harman Kardon citation 17 and 12 deluxe in the wooden cabinets in my bedroom. It's going to take a while for them to break in as stated in the manual and by others so I'm going to run them non-stop all day and all night for a week. If you think Klipsch or Polk or some of these other speakers sound good you're missing the boat if you don't buy a pair of these for a pair for $1,300 they are beautifully made, in piano black which matches my SVS 4000 SB subwoofer that I use of my Dahlquist DQ10's. I've only had them hooked up for the last 15 minutes so I'll be coming back and writing a second review for once I've gotten these broken ends but as of now with music on them they sound great I'm getting ready to turn on a John wick movie or something with some punch to it to see how they sound.IF YOU'VE GOT A BRAIN IN YOUR HEAD BUY A PAIR OF THESE!I would also especially like to compliment the seller for the way they were packed. They most certainly produce audiophile quality sound at an affordable price. The 3-way driver system does not leave a single note from the full frequency spectrum unaccounted for. You hear everything that was meant for you to hear. Bass and mid range are outstanding. It has taken me a while to get used to the ribbon-fold tweeter, but you just need to be a bit more careful with placement and toe-in positioning. They are just about broken after about 3 weeks, and the sound just keeps getting better. I would recommend the bi-amping if possible. With my Marantz AVR system, the sound is beyond my expectations.They are also very nice to look at. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Spectacular Speakers *by on Reviewed in the United States October 26, 2021* I had the Polk XT70's.. which were good, and for the average person, they suffice. But I wanted something that was spectacular, speakers that I could enjoy, and re-listen to every song to appreciate the detail. I can report these speakers are spectacular. When they come out of the box, they are a little muffled. After use (at higher volumes - the book recommends 90 DB) they break in and sound great. The bass is so powerful, I'm returning my subwoofer, I just don't need it!Update March 2024Still in love with these. I am adding a subwoofer to complete my theater room. The sub will help with some of the lower frequencies and the "punch" during action movies... not desperately needed but one of those things that has to be done in the chase of home theater perfection :-) Amp settings are going to require some research to arrive at the best settings, last time I did not have the correct settings. Side note: Martin Logan MC-6 in-ceiling speakers are equally spectacular for ATMOS or general music around the house.. even the IC6 (cheapest entry-level like $100/each) ceiling speakers are really good. HiFi Heaven recommended these and I'm glad he did.Update April 2022Still in love with these speakers. Everyone who comes over for a movie is impressed. I’m convinced the best speakers for the money. They do music very well (don’t Bluetooth to your receiver it will sound terrible, be sure to use a receiver that can stream the music directly), crisp and clear and good bass. Movies are spectacular also. I have friends with setups that cost 20x what my setup costs and there is minimal differences. Get a good receiver and calibrate for your room it increases bass a lot.. and disable a lot of the receiver auto sound settings. I had to increase center speaker volume a bit for movies. I had a subwoofer, I calibrated it and then watched action sequences at a higher volume than I would ever… and the sub did not even turn on once. Lol. So I returned it. I notice the distance to the speakers make a big difference, I moved my sofa forward a bit and much better sound stage. I believe about 9-12 feet is ideal.PS I like them so much, I bought the smaller set for my office.Update October 2022 (1 year of use)Updating this review because I am sitting here listening to Heart of Gold by Neil Young and thinking how these speakers might be my favorite item I’ve ever purchased. Movies sound incredible, music sounds incredible.. zero complaints. I have these with a 4k laser projector.. my all in cost for my movie room is 10K and this is my favorite room and used 2-4 times a week. You must pair with a good receiver and calibrate them correctly.. this makes a 2-3x improvement in sound.
