It's a mortise chisel, dude. That's how they are. I have the set and they are great for the money. Pretty sharp out of the box but I went the extra step and made them crazy sharp. **Q: Does the chisel shaft run all the way through the handle?** A: I don't believe so. i think they are a long shaft glued into the handle like most chisels. they are very secure and strong. they are intended to be hammered on the back with a wooden mallet, hence the rings for support. **Q: Do these Narex mortise chisels come in a protective/display case like the Narex shop chisels? There's nothing mentioning it in the item description.** A: Unfortunately they do not come in a protective/display case. They are packaged in a cardboard. For this price you get good quality mortise chisels. **Q: Do these chisles have imperial mesurments on them?** A: No because they're metric sizes.
