Review: Excellent, I guess. - This powder works and it's easy to use. Its only drawback is that a little goes a very, very long way, so that can make it pretty hard to measure. To gel 7 liquid ounces, you use 1.5 grams of agar. Assuming that you're not dealing drugs or selling jewelry, who has a scale that measures half grams???? In the end, by using larger measurements and then dividing, I figured out that 1/4 teaspoon equals .5 grams. You stir the agar into the thing to gel, boil it, and then drop it into cold oil to make pearls of (whatever). It's super impressive for dinner parties, etc, and it only takes a few minutes. Of course, at the rate that I use it, this will cover me for the next 1800 dinner parties.

**Q: Does anyone think this item can be used to make a gel for germinating orchid seeds? Would you simply add water to it in a petri dish?**
A: since it is a plant based form of gelatinizer, it has been gaining popularity as a germinator for various plant-life. A: No. It’s a completely neutral taste. I don’t believe there are any additives.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ My first time

This was my first time using Agar. It arrived timely. Nicely sealed. Smelled fresh. I made vegan cheese for the first time. I followed the girl online to cook the agar exactly as she did ( it seemed like way too long...but what do I know?) When I added it to the other ingredients it was like concrete. Even my faithful vitamix barely incorporated it into the cheese. Oh the racket! I even turned it off to see if I had left a plastic lid in there by accident! The cheese eventually came out beautifully. Next time I will use a little less and not cook it so long. This stuff certainly sets up well. I see no reason to cook it to death. Just as with my homemade puddings, I expect it to gel as it sets in the refrigerator.
