Typically Windows is able to detect and automatically obtain the right firmware/drivers to allow data transmission, but in this case I just went to UGREEN's website and downloaded the appropriate driver and now it works flawlessly. My older USB to Serial adapters would not work anymore with the newer Windows OS. This works almost plug-n-play. The adapter worked perfectly when I tried it but then did a Windows update and then it wouldn't work anymore. I then clicked update driver in the Windows tool and it worked again. So just FYI.
