Whereas the earlier iDevice had analog audio available via the 30 pin interface, all Lightning equipped iDevices are a digital only interface via this connector. As such, to extract audio, there must be a conversion from digital to analog in order to connect to an analog audio system. The only way is to modify the stock stereo to include an aux port and hack into the XM or the cd player. Very risky unless you are a tech guy. What kind of of car do you have? He was out right rude. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Very specialized, really requires additional components to be worth it. *by J***E on December 9, 2015* Two big complaints: 1. If using with your iPhone, call audio doesn't go through. This might be obvious to some, but it wasn't obvious to me. You can get turn-by-turn, music, video, etc., but not call audio. I imagine that could be worked out through a second bluetooth setup or headphone jack and routing, but that wasn't something I wanted to pursue. 2. The audio level goes to 100% every time I plugged my iPhone in. If you are running another audio control knob, or preamp, this may not be a big deal. I ran the DAC as the middle man between my iPhone and amp (that's it).
