Still, ordinary typing paper is my favorite. The next choice for me is regular card stock. Each of these has advantages and disadvantages. Stock paper is more durable but harder to punch and more brittle. Brittle paper sometimes makes holes or semi-holes in the process. I might add that getting a full-size slate is something you might consider. They are not expensive, easier to use, and more accurate. I'm concerned about accuracy since the letters must be punched backwards.** A: No, no patterns are included, but you can search Braille dot pattern in Google Images and print one out. You are right to say that the Braille cells will need to be “flipped” when making the impressions. It takes some thought and planning to flip the cell dot patterns and impress the words backwards as well. **Q: Do you have to punch in the letters backwards so it is readable?** A: Yes, in a nutshell. When you insert the paper you Braille from right to left, so the raised dots will be left to right. I try not to think of it as backwards, but the cell numbers are reversed. **Q: could I use this on playing cards?** A: Yes, I believe playing card stock would work, but I’m not totally sure since I haven’t done that before.
