Review: Unique, fun, and addicting MMO - I purchased Guild Wars 2 in November of 2012 because I had some friends who played this game as well. I've been playing it ever since. I've had many great memories while playing Guild Wars 2, and I love that there is no monthly fee. So if I take a break from playing, I can just go back to playing without having to pay. This is an MMO that is very different to other MMOs. I don't know this from personal experience, but I've watch gameplay of other MMOs and Guild Wars 2 is very unique. Along with your main storyline, there are side missions, exploration of a HUGE world (which took me an extremely long time to discover the entire map), there are dungeons, "World Events" usually during the holidays which are actually really fun, and SO much more you can do. The game has really changed from the time I purchased Guild Wars 2 and now. 90% of the time, good updates! There are times such as grinding where you have to be playing a lot to get good gear, but what MMO isn't like this? Playing with a group of friends is also a ton of fun. Likes: - Very unique in comparison to other MMOs out right now - FREE TO PLAY/NO MONTHLY FEE - Because there is no monthly fee, you may think "I'll have to use real money to get good gear". Absolutely not. You can earn tons of in-game currency in all sorts of way, without having to use real money. Obviously it wouldn't be as fast as using real money, but there are definitely ways to get rich without paying an extra cent. - There are dynamic events that pop up throughout the map and its always fun to join other players doing these events. - There's PvP (player vs player), PvE (Player vs Environment, no PvP), and WvW (world vs world/server vs server). There are different modes for everyone to play. - Every player has different and unique gear. I rarely see two players who look alike, gear-wise. I love seeing all the unique armor and dye combinations that players have. - You can create five characters for free, and if you want more, you can purchase another character slot. - There are eight (soon to be nine) professions or classes, and five different races. - If your character is level 80, but your friend is level 10, you two can still play together and not have your level 80 be extremely overpowered. There is a level-scaling system which works very well. - One of the greatest thing, close to being my favorite, is the Guild Wars 2 community. 95% of the people are very friendly and will help anyone with questions or they will have casual conversations with random people. I have also encountered a lot of people who give away valuable in-game items to people. There is also a great diversity of people who play. From young to older. Personally, I am on the younger side (18), but some people in my guild are married and I have met older folks who even play Guild Wars 2 with their children. I think its great. There is so much more that I love about this game, but way too many things to list. Dislikes: - It isn't like Skyrim where you can hit whenever. There are a certain set of moves that certain weapons have, but I don't mind. I can't really think of much I dislike. I'm not trying to say there are not things I dislike in Guild Wars 2, but there are definitely more things I like about it than things I dislike about the game. Overall, it is a great, fun, and unique MMO. One of the greatest video games I have ever played. Definitely worth the money. Also to note, there is an expansion pack (Heart of Thorns) coming out soon, which is different from the regular updates they release. This expansion is $50 which also includes the core game if you do not already have it. Personally, I will not be pre-purchasing the expansion pack due to the price, but I wouldn't doubt if I bought it. I am just waiting to see what others say about the expansion. But even without the expansion, there are world event updates as I stated earlier, that are extremely fun. For example, there was an event during Christmas, and there were SO many things you could do. New game modes, new gear and loot. GREAT PURCHASE and its only $20! So what are you waiting for?? There is never a time where I've had nothing to do while playing.
Review: Best MMO in a long time - I've been playing MMOs since Everquest which I played for five years, then WoW for five and a half years, I tried LotRON, AoC,SWTOR and while I played WoW I was also played the first Guild Wars, and I am currently still playing Rift. Guild Wars 2 is the Best MMO since WoW came out and was at its best (which was through WoTLK up to TotC). Guild Wars 2 will change how MMOs are played for a while. The game has taken stuff form SWTOR, Rift, and all the other MMOs to come before it and added. Questing is a mix of events, a story line quest, and running around helping people. The pvp is great and very balance. Combat is more action based then WoW or Rift, but not Tera. The crafting in Guild Wars 2 brings some challenge back to it, and this is the first MMO since EQ that I really feel like exploring is fun. Guild Wars 2 is a completely different MMO and you will have to take time to learn how to play it. Also there are no raids in this game or mounts, but the game really doesn't need either of them. Guild Wars 2 has great graphics but your PC might need an update in hardware to get them to full. Since the launch of the game there have been some issue with the Auction House, Guilds, the moving of a party off and on the overflow servers, and some other issues, but over all the launch for me has been really good. Rift's launch might be the only better MMO launch I can think of. But don't be surprised by some issues. Please if you buy this game be advised that Guild Wars 2 isn't a MMO that just copies WoW, Rift, SWTOR, or any other the games is completely different from any other MMO. There is in Guild Wars 2 no reason to race to the max level, like in so many other MMOs. Also your skills and talents work very differently then most other games, with five of you abilities being based on what weapon or weapons you are useing, and the others are class specific. You can only have ten abilities up at a time and one will always be a heal. There are no tanks or healers in Guild Wars 2, everyone can heal, everyone can dodge to avoid damage. My only two real issues with the game is that I wish at night in the game it was darker like night really is and I wish the leveling wasn't so fast. I have really enjoyed Guild Wars 2 so far, think you will also. This is really a great game and no subscription! P.S. Since I'm now at the max level I would like to add to this review a bit. There have been many worries about the end game content in Guild Wars 2. And I love the end game content! The events become more raid like and even give you a chest if you finish them to open up and get loot out of. There is a small progression in the gear at level 80 but nothing, like WoW, Rift, or other MMOs. The pvp is great at end game fore both WvW or just the battle grounds. The legendary weapons and what is needed to do get them reminds me of the epic quests from EQ and I've really have missed quests like that. So there is end game in GW2 and I'm enjoying it more then the normal raid/pvp gear progression in other MMOs. Guild Wars 2 is really something new and fun in a sea of the same old stuff.

*by S***E on December 26, 2012*

I've only been playing for a couple of day now but so far I really like this game. The way people can just run in and help each other while still getting xp and loot is great. No longer will you chase people off yelling "kill stealer!". It can get a bit hectic but it's kind of nice to have help even when it isn't intentional. I haven't gotten to the pvp yet so I can't rate that but the pve is a lot of fun. It's different from other mmo's and it's nice to see a game company being brave enough to try something new even though it puts the game at risk. I wish the bodies for the female Char were a bit more...womanly lmao. I understand that they're beasts but sheesh! Could have made them slimmer, not so hunched backed and with curves! :-P But that's just me.
