They are made to be worn over regular shoes, NOT BOOTS. I did not realize this until after I bought them, and it was a pain to get them to fit over my boots. They have a little elastic band on the bottom that goes around your shoes, but I had to cut them in order to be able to get them to fit correctly. No big deal, but...2. You'll probably need to buy a set of boot/blousing bands in order to get them to stay up (Little elastics straps with hooks you put around your leg right under the knee, on the inside of the boot top - you can buy these off Amazon for cheap, too). The laces don't really tie tight enough to keep them from falling down on your leg.Other than that they are great! They look great and they are pretty comfortable. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Worked great with some simple modifications *by P***H on Reviewed in the United States on November 22, 2013* My son needed boots for a play, these covers were a less expensive option than boots, with the added advantage of having a time period look that we needed for his role. One of the other members of the cast purchased them as well. My son wore them over black high top basketball shoes. They look very nice, but did present some challenges with staying up, as others have mentioned. My son's role involved some "dancing" and a fight scene, along with a lot of general movement. After trying several different approaches here is what we found to work best:First, cut the elastic that is supposed to go around and under your actual shoes off completely. The elastic bands serve only to pull on the boot cover with each step taken, and the cover lays very nicely over the shoes without the elastic bands. They are far too short anyway, and trying to stretch them over your shoe, if you can even stretch them that far, will cause some of them to break with repeated uses.Next, use strategically placed safety pins to pin them to the pant leg. Tacking with a few stitches with do the same thing. It does take some patience to get the boot tops completely even, and it helps to have someone pin them in place while they are on the wearer. We placed one fairly large safety pin in the back right under the folded flap and right on the seam where the folded flap is sewn to the actual boot top. Then we place one smaller safety pin directly beneath the larger one to help distribute the tug created, thereby reducing the chances that either the boot cover or pant leg would tear at the attachment.The boot overs have to be pulled onto the legs BEFORE putting on the black shoes.These steps made the boot covers last through 2 months of dress rehearsals, and 4 performances completely intact. I would recommend these for anyone needing a time period boot for a costume for any occasion. ### ⭐⭐⭐ 3.0 out of 5 stars Look decent but are of mediocre quality *by F***I on Reviewed in the United States on November 1, 2016* First of all as the others have said these will NOT stand up on their own. If you don't do something to hold them up you will end up with them puddled around your ankles. Second, velcro won't do it. I used velcro with industrial strength adhesive to try and hold them up. After a brief time of walking around last week they were (you guessed it) puddled around my ankles. I kept sticking them back in place but as soon as I would walk a few steps they would slide right back down. The adhesive held to the pants, but not the boots. Third, even safety pins don't hold them very well. I tried one safety pin on each boot last night and they still sagged badly. If I wear them again I'll be going with 3 or 4 pins on each boot cover.Second, they are not easy to put on and take off. The only way I could figure out to do it is to put my shoes on first and then pull them over my shoes. They just barely fit and you can hear them starting to tear from the force. The second time I wore them one of the straps tore off. The only way I could remove them was to slip my feet out of my shoes and then remove the whole shoe/boot cover assembly together and THEN remove the boot covers from the shoes.
