I have bought all of my cases from Amazon, which is a crapshoot because the photos usually do not give a good portrayal of the case. But I have had good luck in the past and took a chance with this one.This is a 3-piece case with an inside shell covered by a semi-soft frame, and has a front cover with a plastic screen saver like an OtterBox Defender. The edge of the front cover is more than 1/8" above the screen and gives as much protection as one could ask for. The overall thickness of the case is about 5/8" at best and easily slides in and out of pockets. The case is plenty rigid and should protect the phone if you accidentally sit on it.The outer frame is nicely textured for a good grip. The buttons work perfectly.Of special note, there are covers over the headphone and charging ports. They are of a design that allows no dirt or dust to enter the case. I considered docking the case one star because the headphone port is pretty hard to open if you don't have long fingernails, and I hook up an AUX cable pretty much every time I get in my truck. But the protection it provides that person who spends time in dusty or sandy environments, the fact that it is well made and likely will not break off, I didn't. A standard sized headphone jack or AUX cable fits nicely in the opening, and the stock Samsung charger fits in the bottom opening.The plastic screen saver does take some sensitivity from your screen, I had to adjust to a higher sensitivity level. The screen works great but the "back" button is a little hard to activate. I have had the exact same experience with the screen savers on $90 OtterBox Defenders. I have not decided if removing the plastic screen saver and replacing it with a tempered glass one is possible. I will probably try it at some point in the near future.This case is EXACTLY what I was looking for. I could not be more pleased. It is well worth three times the price.EDIT>>>11/13/15 You can put a .03" tempered glass screen protector under the cover. CAREFULLY remove the plastic screen protector. WARNING>>>it is attached very well. I started at a corner with a small pointed knife and got the corner loose from the front and carefully pulled it around the opening.After a couple of weeks I am still very happy with this case. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Nice case *by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2015* This is a really nice case and was much cheaper than similar cases but seems to be well made.PROS: The speakers are open so no reduction in sound there which is a plus compared to other cases. The case is easy to hold, not too heavy but sturdy and rugged enough to protect the phone. The embossing on the rubber makes it easy to grip. The power and volume controls work perfectly. All the cutouts for the speakers, microphone, rear camera, etc. are in all the right places and perfectly sized. I am pleased that there is a flap covering the headphone jack and charging port; since my factory charging port cover broke off, I feel like my phone is better protected now.CONS: Other than the inital stiffness of the case and difficulty getting it on the phone (which was much easier once I allowed the case to warm up from being outside on the doorstep), my only issue so far is reduced functionality of the controls in the bottom left and right corners of the phone (to either side of the home button). I increased my touch sensitivity setting and it helped some, but I still have to touch the corner controls harder or repetitively to get them to respond. Also, if you are someone who uses your front camera this may not be the case for you because you can see the case in the upper corners of photos taken with the front camera.I'm not sure how well the water protection will be since on the screen since the home button is uncovered and there is a slight gap around it that could possibly allow water in, but we shall see the next time I have to use my phone in the rain. (My old Otterbox case was bad to get water between the screen and the case whenever I used my phone in the rain, which is why I replaced it with this Ulak case.) I also have not dropped my phone yet since having this case, so I cannot comment on that other than to say the corners are well protected so the case should protect the phone well. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Better case than the more expensive one I had before *by A*** on Reviewed in the United States on March 13, 2016* I love this case, it is far better than the otter box I had before.Cons: the screen protector has these weird dots on it that you can see when the screen is blacked out. The flaps for the charging port and headphone jack were really stiff and hard to undo, but after the first time undoing it they were extremely loose and annoying so my husband cut them off with his pocket knife.The only big issue I had was that when I first got it I received a Note 5 case, not a GS5 case. I called Amazon, they issued me a refund immediately and then upgraded my shopping from 2 day with Prime to 1 day shipping for free.Pros: It's light and thin but very tough and durable. I feel secure if I drop my phone, it will be fine when I pick it up. The way the hard plastic fits into the rubber bumper is in a way that it the hard part won't pop out when dropped. It feels good in my hand and the texture sides are really nice. The Buttions work great and I have no issues with it slipping from the actual spot, so I couldn't press the buttons, like I did with the otter box.
