I also just finally got around to putting it together. Only took 9 years lol. And since when did plastic models become so expensive?! I’m 52, and going to the track every weekend to go drag racing for the last 30 years was getting more difficult, so I’m finished with that chapter of my life and back into building models. I’ve owned many Revell kits, and I built them until I was about 18. Until now. So, I decided I’d start with this last weekend. I had never built their Corsair before, but I was tired of seeing it laying around on the shelf with an inch of dust on the box and paints. It’s Revell as I remember it. Lots of flash, poorly fitting parts, copious amounts of putty, and a lot of sanding. Lots of sanding lol. To be fair, while the box art is from 2012, there is a date stamped into one half of the fuselage that says 1963. That’s 10 years before I was born. Overall, it’s not a great a kit. Revell has had a history of being hit or miss on the 1/48 scale planes. If your expectation is this spectacular little warbird all done up when you finish, then you should probably spend your money on Tamiya’s version. If you don’t mind that, and/or if you have the talent, it’s possible to make this come out decently. This kit will try your patience for sure. The little pilot is almost impossible to paint very well without a magnifier. The wings you may as well glue in the down position, and the canopy fit is terrible. It’s not Revell at its finest for sure. But it only takes about 8 hours to build it and, with an airbrush, it comes out alright. What’s the saying? Good from far, but far from good. I’ll try the Tamiya version next.
