Opening the box you’re greeted by components that need to be carefully assembled to enable the turntable to perform as expected. There is a comprehensive instruction manual and the instructions are easy to follow. Don’t be scared by the components - it’s click and tighten. Balancing the tone arm is the trickiest part as it’s been a while…. It’s seriously straight forward! But the manual does take you through it step by step. You will have to also pop on the platter and felt disc before use and you are also given a centrepiece if any of your discs have it missing.The turntable has a preamplifier and so can have speakers connected directly to it via a RCA connection. This is what I have done. You can plug in to an amplifier, and there is a switch to toggle on the rear if you do. For a home user like me, the sound quality from this deck is incredible. The stylus is included with the turntable and picks up the music with such delicacy, you can begin enjoying blasts from the past as quickly as you can connect all the components. The tone arm is light but very well controlled by the lever with the softest of descent to the vinyl. There are 4 vibration absorbing feet on the bottom of this deck, allowing almost nothing to spoil playback. Aesthetically, this is a wonderful classy piece of kit. Minimal fuss on the surface. Just the RPM control, and the anti skid dial on display. The power button is on the back with the output connections. I have coupled this first Class deck with a set of Q Acoustic M20 speakers. Together they transform my lounge to the music venue of my choice, filling the space with clean crisp sound. It was easy to set up with clear informative instructions. Make sure the pre amp is off if you are playing it through an amplifier with a dedicated phono input. The motor is silent and the sound quality is excellent even if the record is old and of questionable quality. The earthing lead seems to cut out much of the static. This turntable was about twice the price of the ‘House of Marley’ deck but the quality of the Teac deck is far superior and worth the extra money if your budget can run to it. My only criticism is that the turntable continues to rotate and does not automatically stop at the end of the record. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Researched before Buying *by R***R on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 20 December 2023* I was looking for a vinyl player DD from the UK and my choices were limited between Technics/Audio Technica/Teac. I decided to try the Teac TN 4D...since I'm already in possession of the other two. First reading the specs I found it had a higher SNR than the Audio Technica AT LP 5x my closest comparison. Fairly simple in terms of a set up which I completed in about 15 to 20 minutes after opening the box packing which I must say was beyond superb as it had about 3 layers of protection. The price that I paid was less than 350 GBP. The only disappointing thing was the Sumiko Oyster pre-installed cartridge that comes with the turntable. After a few plays the fidelity and sonics were missing and I promptly changed it to the Nagaoka 110 which seems to work fine. I had some issues fixing the dust cover but did so after watching a video and reading the instruction. Nice S shaped tone arm caters to 33 1/3 & 45 RPM. You can connect to a computer with a USB output for HQ files. I simply connect it to my Tascam CD recorder to convert rare LPS to CDR. Now the price for this turntable has shot up considerably to nearly 500 GBP. If you can pick it up in the 350-400 range one should be happy.
