I was thrilled when I saw it in black! Don't let the look throw you off. Heel-wise it may look wobbly, but this is the most comfortable, soft insole, stable shoe - it is like getting a hug!!! I cannot wear wobbly shoes at all, and couldn't no matter how beautiful they were, but I discovered this shoe a couple years ago, and while it is not cheap, It's a must have. The whole shoe holds your foot and ankle so securely, it's a miracle, I find whoever designed it is a genius.DEFINITELY go at least a half size smaller than what you'd generally wear. I've read reviews where many bought this a full size (or more) smaller than their regular size. I would ordinarily order this shoe in a 7M cuz I view it as a closed shoe (in open Sandals im a 6.5) and I have this shoe in size 6M and they are fine. This particular shoe I now bought in size 6.5 just cuz I'm finding my foot sometimes swells during summertime. But also be aware these shoes are wholly comprised of leather straps which will stretch and mold to your foot.Due to the platform, the heel is actually shorter than it appears. The leather is quality soft, the whole shoe is quality. Looks as depicted. Deserves 5 stars. It's an edgy funky look, perhaps not for some, but I am in 40's and feel appropriate wearing them. Suitable for all. I do have flats, which I just started wearing recently when I really need them, but other times these are great. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ONE GORGEOUS SHOE! I MAY HAVE FOUND A NEW PREFERRED BRAND!! *by S***Y on September 11, 2014* I fell in LOVE with this shoe with just one glance. And then I fell in LUST after reading handfuls of reviews from various websites that sold this shoe. I wanted to make sure I ordered the right size. I consistently have worn an 8.5 all of my teen to adult life. If I were in between sizes then I am closer to an 8 versus a 9. Some reviews said to drop down one full size while others said to drop just one-half size. SO, I opted for one full size. The shoe fits perfectly! Like just about everyone I have one foot that is a little larger than the other, and on that particular foot I do notice a bit of heel rub on this shoe. But it is not a rub that is painful. I anticipate that as the shoe stretches, as reviews indicate it will, that the rub will not be an issue. The fit of the shoe is superb. The sole appears to offer a great grip. These bad boys are getting packed for an upcoming cruise!!I purchased another pair of JAMBU shoes from another site the same week that I bought the SUGAR, the RHONDA (aka JAMBU Adventure Designs: Memory Foam Comfort Wedge Crossover Strap Ankle Boots), and they fit true to size. If there could be improvement it would be two things: 1) the consistency in size and packaging of the shoe. 2) the far less costly Rhonda came packaged in individual shoe bags, while Sugar was just plopped in a box like any other shoe. You would think the more costly shoe (as the Sugar was twice the $$ compared to Rhonda) would come with a shoe bag; especially since they are from the same label.But, the SUGAR is one gorgeous and comfortable shoe. & I would seriously consider eventually owning them in every color available!!! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great shoes, but wish I'd ordered true to size or no more than a half size down *by D***L on May 16, 2015* Based on the reviews I read here and elsewhere before purchasing, I ordered a full size down - 6 instead of 7. It is not uncommon for me to be able to wear smaller sandals and the reviews suggested that I would need to do so. However, I am sorry I did not order my true size. I did not get a chance to really wear these (ordered too early in the season) and by the time I gave them their real test-run, it was too late to return them.My thoughts - first time I wore them, a friend told me (at least 2 or 3 times) that she really liked them. They do look good on (I ordered the smoky color as an alternative to black which is most of what I own). The straps leave a LOT of nasty indentations on the top of my feet if I zip up the back since it is VERY snug. However, the back heel closure is tight enough so that my foot stayed securely in, even with it unzipped. It doesn't materially damage the look, and it is actually fairly comfortable, though still leaves mild indentations. The footbed is very comfortable and I wore it on a weekend trip both ways, so through two airports, to the hotel, etc. with no issues and no blisters.One word of caution: there are a LOT of strap edges, as you would find in any gladiator-style sandal. The material is very sturdy and stiff, but also not very supple or forgiving. I am hoping that this will break in over time. I wonder, if I had ordered true to size, whether I would have had some chafing issues if my foot moved around at all. Right now, the foot is so secure, so there is zero movement within the shoe.So, not a great fit, but good enough.UPDATE: Months later, I still get compliments on these all the time.
