Upon removal, I was pleasantly surprised with the bright chromed finish, heavy construction, ease of loading and operation of stapler. One caveat. As advertised, this stapler is capable of attaching numerous sheets of paper. The box of staples included with this order are obviously designed for that purpose and are approximately 1/8 inch longer than standard Swingline desk staples. However, when attaching only one or two sheets of paper, the longer staples tend to bind. This problem is easily fixed by installing standard desk staples which then operate very well. I might have another. None of the stapler fror one fit the others. What size for this?** A: I use Stanley Bostitch Standard Staples, made in the USA. 5,000 premium quality staples. Product number 1-317BS . 110 staples per strip. An entire strip fits into the Rapesco. The fit is snug - no gap or wiggle room at all. **Q: does this stapler use standard staples** A: The Staple description tells it all. Several kinds. 5/16" work great for me. **Q: Will this staple heavy duty 1/4 inch wide staples flat just like an office paper stapler?** A: No it doesnt open up to staple against a wall. Repesco beats Rapid Classic! *by P***Y on January 23, 2020* I bought this to replace my old Rapid Classic stapler that I bought a few years back. The Rapid was nice, lasted thouusands of staples but was now jamming a lot. I was going to buy another Rapid Classic but decided to try this Repesco. Was not sure where it was made (British company) and preferred to buy a Swedish product over one made in a less free nation with hit and miss quality control, but had no idea if Repesco was made in Britain or imported...turns out it is made in Taiwan, I'm cool with that. Years ago when I bought the Rapid Classic, the anvil plate fell off. I popped it and the spring back on and had to peen it properly. The magazine spring got weak and it started failing to push staples when it would run low. I had to keep trying to stretch the spring which sort of worked for a while. The action was a little rough too. I took a chance with the Repesco, and not only is the notched handle a little more comfortable, but the magazine spring is WAY better quality. The action is much smoother, requiring a little less effort, and nothing has fallen off yet. The fit and finish are better too. Needless to say, I was a little surprised, but pleasantly so. Glad I tried the Repesco this time. In all fairness, I did get a few or several years out of the Rapid. Will see how long the Repesco lasts. But the fit and finish of the Rapid was disappointing from day 1. Also, had I not found the pieces and been able to repair it, the Rapid would have been in a landfill after a few months. I think it is a good design gone bad.
