    Worst Strap Ever!

*by W***E on Reviewed in the United States on September 24, 2009*

Despite the glowing reviews, this is the worst camera strap I've ever owned. It's poorly designed. I've used the strap now for 2 1/2 years. I wasn't impressed with it when I got it and realized some problems right off.1) The shoulder pad does not use rubber! It keeps sliding off my shoulder. It uses vented nylon instead of rubber. They designed the strap to be worn "tourist style" around your neck, instead of "shooter" style which is over one shoulder. It keeps sliding off my shoulder even when I'm walking around. I have to hang on to the camera and keep pulling the strap down against my shoulder to keep it from falling off. It's one more thing I have to worry about instead of concentrating on getting great shots.2) The strap is too short. I'm 6'1" and the strap specs say it's max length is 56.4". But the way it has to be fastened to the camera it's only 52". It's too short for me, when using slung over one shoulder. If you want to use it cross chest for security it's going to be way too short.3) The strap is too narrow. The strap keeps twisting due to the wires in it. And since it's so narrow, I can't tell if it's twisted or not. I have to keep holding the camera out and pull on the shoulder padding end to straighten it out. The problem with it twisting is that, when I put it on my shoulder and it's twisted, the camera ends up in a strange position and not oriented correctly. I need the camera to hang from my shoulder the same way every time for consistency.4) The wires in the strap have memory. They end up twisted and you can't straighten them out. You can pull on the strap to straighten the wires, but the wires will still be twisted. The wires have memory and end up twisted through regular use, so there's nothing you can do about it.5) The part that attaches to your camera is not slash proof. It's regular nylon webbing. The strap with the wire in it then attaches to this webbing.6) The part that attaches to the camera keeps slipping. It uses a standard slider that doesn't hold the strap. After every shoot, I have to readjust it. Because a few times, the ends were very close to slipping off through the slider, and then the camera would fall.7) There's are metal clips which attach the strap to the part that attaches to the camera. Because the part that attaches to the camera is not slash proof, the put a sliding nylon cover over it. The problem is that the metal clips can open without your knowing it, and the camera come off.The bottom line: This is a poorly designed product that wasn't tested by real photographers. It's not a strap that you can put on your camera and forget about it. The shoulder padding keeps slipping off, which is a constant pain. The part that attaches to the camera keeps slipping and twisting. The strap will become twisted due to the metal wires and it will be a constant battle to keep it straightened out. The clips that attach to the part that attaches to the camera can open without your knowing about it. The bottom line is that this is camera strap that you have to keep fiddling with constantly. It's not the kind where you can attach to your camera and forget about it. After 2 1/2 years of constant fiddling with the strap on shoots, I finally went back to the Canon strap that came with the camera. Using this strap was total aggravation.

Very happy. Wanted another one and read the negative reviews

*by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2016*

Bought one several years ago. No problems. Works as advertised. Very happy. Wanted another one and read the negative reviews. The problem with the webbing portion (splitting apart at the stitched seam) is a legitimate concern even though I've never had a problem even with heavy gear - Nikon D300s with Nikon AF-S 70-200 VR 2.8. Fortunately, this potential problem is easily fixed. I bought some 1/16th inch diameter braided stainless cable and some 1/16th crushable aluminum ferrules at a local big box hardware store. I spent less than $5.00. I basically made two loops in the shape of a letter B. Two ferrules hold the ends together in the middle. One loop of the wire goes through the webbing loop between the plastic buckle and the camera and the other loop of the wire goes over the locking metal hook along side the plastic eyelet. (Route the wire before you crush the ferrules.) I wrapped the ferrules with a short piece of black electrical tape to cover any sharp edges. It lays flat - especially if you route the wire underneath the buckle - with the webbing and finally the sliding cloth sleeve hides it all. If the webbing tears at the stitching or the plastic eyelet breaks, the wire cable will still hold. YES I KNOW! I shouldn't have to do this but I like the strap (4 stars) and it took me 30 minutes tops. I have yet to find a better, more secure camera strap so I bought a second strap and made wire loops for it too. Here's a bonus, the Pacsafe camera strap doesn't have large letters advertising "NIKON" or CANON." Photos included.

    Decent Strap to prevent Pick-pockets!

*by T***1 on Reviewed in the United States on May 4, 2016*

This product was perfect for my Euro Trip to London and Paris. The Strap works as described. I enjoyed the comfort of knowing the strap could not be cut from behind. We stopped at the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace, which was packed with hundreds of people.I could see how it was easy for Pick-Pockets to steal objects in that environment. With this strap I was not afraid to have my camera out in the densely populated area. Would highly recommend! My only two complaints are:1. The clips (bottom of the strap) have plastic locks on them that you rotate to allow you to lock/unlock the clip. The locks are little pieces of plastic. I was able to rotate the lock in a way that it didn't click into place. I think they could improve this lock if it were metal (same as the clip). I could see this breaking very easily. *See Attached Image for Lock*2. The strap is very stiff (Unlike the Nikon strap I was am use to).The strap can be a little awkward to work with at times and uncomfortable.
