Love the fact that it’s one plug vs. the plug & sensor separately. Review: Good for pantry light - Years ago the handyman installed a double pole outlet in the bottom of our pantry. One pole has a regular outlet and the other space holds a motion detector that activates the bottom plug. The motion detector failed. I bought this as a work around until such time as we can get the electrician in for a list of projects. I installed it into the upper plug and the rope LED lighting into it and it works great. I set it to stay on 1 minute and it detects automatically when I open the pantry door. There are multiple time settings from which you can choose. The only modification I had to make was adding a plug adapter since the top of this detector hit the wood brace for the shelf above and without the adapter would not push into the plug all the way. It doesn't seem to be as sensitive to moving bodies when the lights are already on. It's range is reduced. In the dark of night, I believe the sensitivity of sensor increases. Because someone walking into the living room 20 feet from the device, will trigger it on. In the day time, that doesn't happen. You have to be in the kitchen to trigger it. If you have pets walking around at night, they will most likely trigger it. **Q: after detecting motion what is the maximum operation time? I would like to set it to one hour. I see from one of the answers that it can be set to 20** A: On the back it has a dial you can set for 1-2-5-10-or 20 minutes. These are the only options it gives you. Great product for the price. **Q: Do you plug this into the wall or do you have to wire it inside the outlet?** A: Just plug it into the outlet. No special wiring required. **Q: I received new version which turns on and off 5 times when I plug it in. Is this normal?** A: It’s possible it’s in test mode. Normally all motion activated devices will run a test phase upon initial use. Good detection angle, minimal latency, works reliably. There's an audible but very faint click each time motion is sensed, but it doesn't bother me.
