It's construction is heavy and solid. It's not accidentally sliding off of your desk or being knocked over. The lighting is excellent, and is convenient to switch between the two light sources. The instructions indicate that there may be halogen alternatives to the bulbs used, and for my purposes I would have looked at purchasing those to provide a little colder light temperature. The magnification is excellent. I didn't even unpack the high-powered eyepieces and the magnification was still more than enough for my needs. Does anyone know the mm of the eye piece ports? Thanks.** A: The adapter on my camera that fits is marked 30.5 mm but please get a cheap 6 inch metric small metal scale and check the size. **Q: Can you use both the top & bottom lights at the same time?** A: No. There is one switch which to press to different positions for top, bottom, and off. I often use the clear platform and look at the specimen lighted from the top and then switch to light it from the bottom. **Q: Can this microscope be connected directly to my PC or laptop?** A: No. To do anything like that, you'd need to buy a separate camera, and even then, this scope isn't really set up to to accommodate a camera. If you're hoping to show images on a computer, you should definitely go with one of the other options that come with a camera. **Q: Does the 80x refer to total magnification? Does it have a zoom feature?** A: 80X total. The main objective can switch between 2X and 4X and it comes with 10X and 20X eyepieces.
