What is an FMOD? The FMOD is an active crossover simulator. It is better than a much more expensive electronic crossover that requires power to operate. FMODs are packaged in pairs and can be combined with other FMODs to obtain bandpass ranges or with other types of crossovers to change the slope and crossover frequency point. FMODs feature a 12 dB per octave crossover slope and are compatible with all RCA type input amps...simply place the FMOD in-line with the patch cable running between the source (head unit) and the amplifier. 24kt gold over brass construction, 10 volts maximum RMS input. ## Questions & Answers

**Q: Are these filter bi-directional......Either end can be input and/or output???**
A: Haven't used these for a while, but I'm almost positive they are directional where the female is the input side and the male is the output side. I doubt very much that any damage would result by reversing the direction, but the either the signal would be cutoff or, more likely, the low-pass filter would be negated.

**Q: The website says the high end rolls off around 1000 hz seem only for subs?**
A: Go to Harrison labs site for best information.  Red are more focused on filtering out Low hz starting at a target frequency and rolling off below it.

**Q: Can I use these to limit the low freqencies out of my home subwoofer? Reduce or eliminate rumble?**
A: I personally think the 30Hz would be too low.  This same firm makes a product for just this purpose and it starts at 37Hz.  I have the 50Hz's just for this purpose and they do great and still let some very low frequency information into my sub.  If you purely want an infrasonic filter to keep your woofer cone from over extension, then these would be the ones but for sound quality improvement, I would personally go with the 50's.

**Q: What is the result if you combine a 50hz hp filter with a 30hz hp filter?**
A: Generally not recommended from a sonic standpoint, but the answer is that the filters would be compounded. Exactly how would be determined by the impedance characteristics of the filters vs. the amplifier. I'd expect what you'd get would be filter slope that would start rolling off at about 12db/oct near 50hz and then roughly double to 24db/oct near 30hz.
