Review: Excellent kit. Don’t buy cheap - I’ve graduated to this ‘pro’ picker after my cheap flimsy one broke on its 10th outing. This one is a superior picker for use clearing my neighbourhood. I have a friend who, after 35 years of council work sweeping streets, retired last week. It was he who taught me that the duty to maintain my standards and pride in where I live are my responsibility, not the council’s. Even if I think otherwise, the rubbish still needs moving. So, I clear my neighbourhood…for me, and I need the right tools for the job. This picker is excellent at the task it was designed for. Design ——— This picker is of the single moving digit type. That’s to say it isn’t a pincer. So, you can position the fixed digit by the item to pick up and, closing the trigger, draw the moving digit towards it to pick up. This simple design feature ensures you have a very precise and easy to use device. I like the trigger too as it’s easy to grip and operate. I should think if I had arthritis, this would be easy to use. Adjustability --------------- A great feature of this picker is that the gripper can be tightened by simply pulling the cord at the picker end. The cord is secured by a simple locking groove and ball. This design means that it is also possible to easily replace the cord, should it break. Length ———- It matters! I was using a 75cm picker which required me to bend or stoop every single time. I was returning home with back ache (I have arthritis in my lower back). This model is 85cm long and I can easily pick up very small items or full soft drink bottle with out stopping at all. Additionally, I now appreciate that a longer reach allows me to pick up litter as I'm walking towards it, making litter picking quicker to complete as I don't stop as much. Material ———— The material used in its construction is, whilst very sturdy, extremely light. The grip is generous and so comfortable in the hand. After a session of using it, I had no sores on my hand or aches in my fingers so this must be a good thing. Summary ————- A very light, long, and study picker which is very comfortable to use and doesn’t stress my back. It can easily pick up very small pieces of paper or 500ml full drink bottles. I love it…as much as one can love an instrument they bought out of their own money to do a job to compensate for the laziness and thoughtlessness of others, but that’s life.
Review: Excellent choice - I bought this as an aid after spinal surgery, I'm not allowed to bend. It's so good, light but sturdy. It's accurate, today I picked up a tiny Hermeseta sweetener! It's helped me to de-dandelion head the patio which is about the only gardening I can do, so it's satisfied that need to be doing something useful. 😃 Probably not th cheapest on the market but not a bank breaker either. Highly recommended

**Q: Is the cord nylon or steel please? When it stretches can it be adjusted?**
A: It's nylon, and the ends are accessible. You could replace the cord, and I would suggest that is done by unhooking it at the handle end, and then tying the new one to that and pulling it through from the claw end. You would have to carefully undo the claw end first, as there are a few inches of spare at that end. Probably need some fine nose pliers at the handle end, as there's not much to get hold of.

**Q: Please - How sturdy are these - can they pick up half filled glass bottles from hedgerows? I need it to last more than a couple of weeks! Thank you.**
A: Mine has been incredibly sturdy. I beach clean every day and it picks up small and big items. I'm very impressed with its quality.

**Q: Which type of grabber is best for litter picking, The double claw or this version? Best wishes**
A: This picker works great for cans and plastic bottles, even if crushed which is what I do first to get more cans in the litter bag. It is not so good for heavy bottles as it is hard to grip them firmly and then their weigh on the end of a long arm is hard to handle. It will pick up cigarette butts but there is a knack to it if they are trodden too flat.
