Comparing it to the first brace I bought with the side hinges, it really looked puny (thin), like it was not going to do very much.. Diagnosed with Osteoarthritis in my right knee, a past 7 year chronic Lyme disease (cured) injury that is permanent. Lyme likes the big joints and knees are the most affected. One is massive monster that has side stabilizing, flexing braces. Very good, but for one problem. Those side braces presses on my injured tendon so for me, right now, they HURT. Tried another, and they didn't stay in place and didn't provide the support I need. Like Goldilocks, this one is just right. It has three Velcro straps that pull/adjust to your size, so it's basically one size for all. It has metal stabilizing bars that are in pockets that run to the side of the knee cap (where I really want the support. They have flaps where these can be removed if need. The flaps on the pocket also can be used as a lockdown on the upper thigh strap, so that strap stays in place instead of sliding down. The straps go across the whole front of the leg, giving a secondary support to the brace. What I like most is the back of the thigh and the back of the knee is cut a little shorter. This is very handy when the knees is bent (like when you drive). The others tend to be the same height all the way around, which causes bunching in the back. That can be very painful on the joints. Not quite as sturdy as the orthopedic doctor had prescribed years ago, but provides good support for a damaged knee due to arthritis. And not nearly as expensive, a major factor now. Was easy to put on and remove. Holding straps seem secure and also peel off easily. It is comfortable whether I am sitting, walking or standing.
