I applied steam and now it stays turned down. I turned it down mainly to keep the sun out of my eyes better, but I found that for my face and head it looks better. Win win. **Q: Is the hat long or round oval?** A: Actually the hat is Regular Oval. Round Oval is only available in straw hats and is designated by a W instead of a R. All Stetson hats are Regular Oval and Resistol hats are Long Oval. 98% of people wear a Regular Oval. Been doing this 20 years so I know. **Q: Is this 6x?** A: Mine was, indeed, 6X. But it is a good question. I paid $135 which is a fantastic price for a 6X (I think). Anyway, this IS a gorgeous hat. Everything I hoped for. **Q: Can you re-crease/re-shape the crown and brim? And what is the depth of the crown un-shaped?** A: Depth of crown on mine is approx. 4 1/2 inches - I don't know why someone else said 3 1/2. You can reshape virtually any well made hat but to reshape this one which is somewhat stiff and has strong creases you would need to do it professionally using a hat steamer and skilled techniques (which many hat stores offer onsite for a fee).
