My cat took one look at it and decided it was ok to investigate, but was probably wondering how you plug the darn thing in. I could also tell my cat was figuring out how to escape once I fired it up. I started sweeping and my cat was puzzled - it only made a swishing noise, nothing like the vacuum! No escape was needed. I do not own one of those sweepers that you use a cloth once and toss. I had an old broom that was plastic and really just not functional. So then I found this. I like that I can quickly sweep around the kitchen - no noise, no plugging in the vacuum. I got the parlor size because my kitchen and eat in area are small and this can maneuver into small spaces. It sweeps very well.
