I have used this with WD SATA and Samsung & Seagate IDEs. The trick is to first plug in the drive, then power, then connect USB. Do this in reverse and your drive may get fried. **Q: Is this station compatible with a 3.5 IDE drive from windows 98 pc** A: Yes it is. It has both the old type 3.5 inch pata eide drive connection and the Sata connection. One of each. I use old hard drives Inc a drive I used to run Windows 98 on. Its just a big adapter that connect to the USB on your PC/Phone/Smart TV etc. Absolutely brilliant.
