It is truly black not dark Brown.

**Q: The bag is made in Thailand, how would we know if we are buying a $600 laptop bag or just a brand Patch sewed on a knockoff**
A: Good question….my bag looks and feels very authentic (this is not my first Tumi) and the Tumi label is stitched in….I took it to a Tumi store to have my initials put on and if it was a knock off it fooled the Tumi staff too

**Q: Can you have initials added to the leather patch?**
A: It has the leather pat h, but I did not order it.

Great backpack. Is it worth the cost... no but that's why they're called luxury items. Get a Briggs and Riley if you don't care about having a Tumi on your shoulder. You have to pay the Tumi luxury tax. I got the anthracite color. Size is great. Very sturdy. It will do everything I need it to do. Negatives. Nothing to keep laptop from falling out like a secure strap or something along those lines. No hidden pouch for an air tag. Side pocket lined for water battle doesn't secure it very well when fully unzipped. None of these matter that much to me but they were things I took note of. Also, the anthracite color is 5% ballistic nylon, 90% polyester, 5% leather. Hence the lower cost. I simply prefer this color over black so I was fine with it. If you want 100% ballistic nylon, you have to get the black or navy At the higher price point of 695 ish.
