We received it quickly. The Amazon price was great, which isn't always the case, and it was just as beautiful as the pictures and descriptions indicate.Unlike the Mountain Boy Ultimate Flyer sled, it comes in two pieces, and you have more control when you assemble it over how easily the steering mechanism turns. That's good and bad, as the screw that determines tightness seems to loosen a little over with use, and I'm concerned it will rust over time as well because it is not sealed away like the turning screw of the Flyer. On the other hand, its great for grown ups to have additional turning sensitivity.We tried the sled out over Christmas on a long, moderately sloped hill with around a foot of powder. It was faster AND more controllable than the other two sleds we tried, including the 52 inch Flyer. I think it will be even faster on packed hills. Unfortunately, the curved, plywood steering arm broke the third time I put it in the car, so I will have to wait to fix it to find out. I wish they had used two pieces of straight, 1 x 3 oak for the steering arm instead of the plywood. It might not have been as pretty, but the extra strength clearly would have been worthwhile so this is what I will use to fix it.All in all a great buy. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars the sled to end all sleds *by M***T on Reviewed in the United States on December 9, 2010* After years of plastic sleds and saucers, I thought with the youngest ready for sledding we would get a flexible flyer metal runner sled. Then the Mountain Boy Sledworks Slalom sled appeared on my radar. Not sure where I saw it first about a month ago but it went the Christmas list of things to get for the boys.We had 4 inches of snow last weekend and the wife and I thought it would be OK to open a present early.Wow! Good move all around. This sled is simply wonderful. Made of plywood with several coats of polyurethane over a medium stain, it is sturdy, stable and great looking.It is easily steerable either sitting or laying down. We preferred sitting because the boys thought it was too fast when on their stomachs (or dad's back).Things to make it go from great to the best ever:1 - the tow rope is a little short when pulling it back up the slope. Solution: another rope and a plastic J-hook to hook to the pull rope and allow it to go in a pocket on the way down hill.2 - their website recommends ski wax on the bottom. I thought it was for speed, but it will preserve the underside of the sled and make it truly an heirloom sled. Try any rub on ski wax.The real test will come at Grandma and Grandpa's house over Christmas and snow in the snow belt of PA. 40" already.UPDATE: As other reviewers had noted, the handle broke. We had a thicker, solid wood handle sent from the company at no charge within a couple of days. And buy a block of wax - it helps the sled run faster. It was a hit in 4" of packed snow, as well as 24" of powder. ### ⭐ 1.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Disappointing Quality Control..... *by D***A on Reviewed in the United States on March 20, 2011* Purchased this as a Christmas present for my son - per-tradition we wrap all the presents Christmas eve while he lay snug in his bed. However, I noticed upon putting this sled together it was missing an essential bolt to hold the front and back sections together. The packaging was fine, no where it could have fallen out, it was simply left out. Thus Christmas morning he awoke without a very cool sled I was very excited to give him. Very very disappointing, and do to the holidays, their offices weren't open to get the essential bolt until several days later. When I finally did get a response, a expected a bit more than "sorry, we'll send one out" as this was a Christmas morning present and I relied on this company to provide a quality product for the significant price they are charging. A week later the bolt arrives, and the snow was gone. Due to work & school schedules we were never able to use the Sled, how every disappointing.
