## Questions & Answers

**Q: I am obviously not allowing for long enough exposures. all i get is a black sky! what iso should i use and how long should my exposures be?**
A: Obviously, your exposure time depends on the ISO and f-stop you select and lens. Higher ISO's allow shorter exposure times with some loss in quality. Smaller f-stop (wider apertures) also allow shorter exposure times. An example, shooting meteor showers using a 14-24mm f2.8 zoom lens I used 15 sec exposure at f2.8 and ISO 1000 with a Nikon D850. For astrophotography, you need to adjust the times to minimize stars appearing to smear, if that is not an effect you desire. Search online for astrophotography or night sky photography for more hints. But try a range of exposure conditions to see what gives you the photos you want.

**Q: Will this work on the canon 24-105 f4 if i purchase this also amazonbasics uv filter ??**
A: Hi Jerry,

I do use my Bahtinov Focusing Mask, 77mm, snapped into a basic 77 mm UV Filter on most of my Astro lenses. It works great, easy to use, and the focus is sharp. Try using a Rubber Band on the Zoom lens to prevent the Zoom lens from creeping movements.

The Bahtinov Focusing Mask should work just fine on your Canon 24-105 f4 lens. Calibrate all of your lenses with your camera bodies.

**Q: Do I have to use a filter to get this to connect properly?**
A: the FP443 does not need a filter to help with connection.

**Q: Can u put this on a dslr lens and the hood, or is it 1 or the other?**
A: A Bahtinov focus aid come in various sizes, can be used on any lens (DSLR, Mirrorless, Telescope) and is used for night astrophotography. This size (77mm) fits my lenses. The way I use it is to mount it in a UV filter and gently screw it onto my lens to focus the lens on a bright star. Once the focus is set, remove the Bahtinov mask and filter you mounted it to so you can take your photos.
