## Description

Reliable and Tough Fireblock. We engineered 3M Fire Block FB 136 as a durable fireblock and draftstop. This product seals, fills, insulates and bonds for non-rated residential and commercial construction. Ready-to-use, this fireblock is intended to resist the free passage of flame and by-products of combustion within a concealed space of a floor, ceiling or wall cavity, restricting the movement of air, fire and smoke. This fireblock is tested as a Type V commercial and residential fireblock to ASTM E 84 (modified) and acts as a draftstop to help reduce air infiltration. This ready-to-use product is heat-resistant (up to 240°F/115°C). Recommended Applications 3M Fire Block FB 136 is used to seal interior construction voids around: Wires Pipes HVAC ducts Penetrations in non-rated wood or steel-framed construction Non-rated framing gaps and voids. Seals and Protects. 3M Fire Block FB 136 has been evaluated by the UL evaluation report ER9700-01 and complies with the International Building Code (IBC) and International Residential Code (IRC). This fireblock is tack-free in approximately 15 minutes and features minimal shrinkage and sag-resistant formulation to help ensure longevity, plus a halogen-free formula. This fireblock also provides excellent adhesion that bonds to concrete, brick, metals, wood, plastic and cable jacketing. **Q: Is this paintable?**
A: Yes.

**Q: Would this be good to use around a dry stack fireplace where cold air pours in through the cracks?**
A: That's certainly not it's intended purpose. I'm sure there are products that would work better for what you want that would also be less expensive.

**Q: Is it waterproof. I want use between a Weber grill and granite countertop**
A: No

**Q: What happens if this is used in an exterior application?**
A: I used mine in an unusual circumstance, to bond soft decorative brick faces to a high heat painted stainless steel surface (backing to a bio-ethanol fireplace). Even after following instructions for a controlled curing/heating process, the sealant was bonded to the steel nicely and also the soft brick face, but the brick face shrunk slightly, causing the sealant to separate and the brick fell off. Maybe I did something wrong or not long enough. I'd say it is more for an indoor/dry weather free application. Outside it may not dry completely to rain and high humidity. Once bonded and dried completely though it is pretty strong, great adhesion.

It’s okay. Definitely very fire proof. It shrinks as it drys though which introduces cracks so you need to do it in passes
